Argghh!! Can't stop playing this game!

Post by Darth Wong »

Have you ever installed an old game that you thought you'd forgotten about, only to be re-addicted to it?

My son wanted to play Command and Conquer: Tiberian Sun because the CD looks cool. So I installed it on his computer, and helped him play a few missions. Now, I can't stop playing this damned game!

My mind screams STOP! It's a stupid game where one-unit massed charge attacks rule the day, 5 machine-gunners can take down a tank, and mecha roam the countryside. But I keep playing it anyway.

Help!

Um... don't know what to tell you, I really didn't play Tiberian Sun much...

EDIT: Part of the problem is that there are no obvious horrible flaws that ruin the game :?

Resistance is futile. You shall get no help. I shall instead make it worse. I insist that you immediately install Red Alert 2 and start playing :)

(C&C tradition- Red Alert is better than C&C Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert 2 is better than C&C2)

Get C&C Red Alert: Yuri's Revenge. Much better C&C. Mind control, zepplin bombers, attack dolphins. It'll get you off one addiction and onto another in no time. :D

I still play it to this day, single palyer skirmish (the "brutal" comp is a bad ass) and against humans online (who are worse). Never did like Tiberian sun though. But if you ever do play online NEVER be the GDI. Nod will always win through the subterrainian APC, end of story.

Heard. Recently reinstalled RA2 to have something to play with my roommate.

Though its not NEARLY as bad as the MOO2 reinstall debacle. Cost me a lettergrade or two in every class that term.

Find the joy of tetris.
Or you could play another game with a better background, story, and look, like Homeworld.

I know just what you mean: I'm struggling through the Zerg missions in Brood War right now. If I could get Master of Magic to work, I'd be playing that too. Master of Orion 2 still resides on my hard drive after all this time... some games are just still fun after years and years of play.

Still have Tiberian Sun on my computer and play it from time to time. Of course mine has a ton of mods and unit additions in it and barely resembles the original version now. There is no hope, you are doomed. :)

Another goodie (but definatley oldy) is Heros of Might and Magic 2. I wouldn't dare put it in the slot (and then restart the comp in MS-DOS mode :( ) for fear of getting re-addicted. Which race is the best? I forget who are the ones who get the dragons?

Orcs get cyclops, humans get paladins, somebody gets phenix...and somebody gets dragons....ARGH! CANT REMEMBER!!!! Now I'm gonna have to put it into find out. Thanks for nothing!

Theres no escape from C&C......

Nothing like watching 100 Titans being mowed down by fifty Nod artillery pieces with 100% accuracy. Of course Firestorm and the patches changed that.

Some Firestorm maps are just insane. More money the Starcraft money maps, and it takes units 20 minutes to cross the maps. The only way to win is to build your base forever bigger and snake it across the map towards your enemy.

That happened to me when I rediscovered my TIE Fighter CD. Aw yeah. But if you are stuck on Command and conquer style fighting may I suggest nukezone.nu? At least when you do that you've got to stop every few hours to let your funds and turns regenerate.

I'd love to help you, Mike, but I've been playing the freeware game Soldat since September. When I figure out how to get away from an addicting game, I'll give you the secret in a heartbeat.

Worms Armageddon.

But Wong, be prepared to withold any pocket money from your kids since C&C: Generals comes out in a few weeks. The difference between the first C&C games and that is amazing.

Then there is MoOIII.

You will suddenly lose months of your life.
