Remote controls for computers - Vista - Media Centre
I picked up a generic (speedlink I think) remote control for my computer, since I've abandoned my TV and dvd player in favour of a single device, and still want to be lazy with it. Does anyone know if there are programs which can reprogram what buttons do what on a generic PC remote? There is no support software for it and no driver was installed, so maybe its all hardcoded into the remote, but it would be nice to be able to not use media centre, instead using some other player for downloaded files or music.

WinLIRC, the windows port of LIRC. Never used it myself, but there's oodles of support online for LIRC, so you shouldn't have much trouble.
