I think that FoxNews is counting on most of their audience to have no idea who Stephen Douglas was or what the Lincoln Douglas debates were actually about. This way they can insinuate that it was Abraham Lincoln, a popular and often revered president (of whom much has been made about his working class backgroung), debating against a black man. Therby they further insinuate that Clinton is Lincoln, who won the election, and Obama is Douglas, who lost the election. Considering the regularity of these "gaffes" by FoxNews, I just can think that it's a mistake.

I saw a clip of this on...Countdown maybe?

The really ironic part was that while this image was up one of their talking heads was telling a 'humorous' story. Basically he asked an intern to look up some archive footage of the Douglas vs Lincoln debates so they can show it to the viewers, and as he put it the intern nodded his head and ran off in search of such footage. "Good luck with that." was how he closed his snarky remarks about sending that intern on a wild goose chase.

Meanwhile, right below his smarmy head was the Fredrick Douglas / Lincoln faceoff image.

So they are dick heads and idiots. Although, that is kinda funny. Reminds of "The keys to the tank" story I've heard. But still, to embarrass your interns on national TV like that... I hope he enjoys the piss flavored coffee he is going to be drinking.
