Thomas Barnett and the new Pentagon Plan

I don't necessarily agree with all the specifics of his breakdown, but overall this does seem to be the way to go to me. I note that the System Admin Force is very similar to what the UN peacekeepers are supposed to be and seems to be the direction the EU is heading towards with their militaries.

I think he is right that there needs to be some definite international framework as to how you deal with the "bad guys" of the world, just like there is for the economically bankrupt ones. Because frankly the approach we are using just isn't fucking working. And the idea of an international reconstruction fund seems useful to me - beyond the reconstruction of wartorn countries it would be perfect for things like what happened in Burma or the quake in China.

So, thoughts?

First of all, I like his tactics, you make your detractors laugh and it brings their guard down, making them more receptive.

As for the plan, the only disagreement I have is on surface ships, that should go both ways much like the carrier force.

I'll be interested to hear what Stuart thinks, as I'm sure he'll see this and feel obligated to respond. What with the subject being US International Strategy.
