The real question is do they acutally have ammuntion. For them. Though really, this isn't that much. Most LAPD patrol cars have both a shotgun and assault rifle of some form.

You know, most police helicopters already have a stabilized camera system; if you put a laser coaxial with it you'd be able to use Hellfire's pretty well with the right computers onboard. Hell the FLIR systems some US police forces now have on their aircraft are more advanced then the attack systems on most of the world's military aircraft.weemadando wrote:Great, beat cops with SMGs. Whats next, giving traffic copters hell-fires to clear up congestion on the freeway?
Wait a minute, that isn't such a bad idea.
It won't accomplish anything. A Hellfire would just rip through one car and into the street below, fragments might disable a few others. What you need is a weapon that will crush and throw cars out of the way but not crater the street. A Mk83 or 84 with proximity fusing would work well, though you'd need something bigger then most police forces use to haul one.

I expect most police helos could carry a Mk-82, and that would be enough for most purposes.
Howedar is no longer here. Need to talk to him? Talk to Pick.

The LAPD has the largest Helicopter fleet in the world for a police organization such as theirs. With all the fucking shite that happens there I don't blame them for arming themselves to the teeth.

Reduce the size of the warhead and that sounds like a useful weapon of last resort to end high-speed chases. Definitely not the kind of thing to be used in built-up areas but more than good enough to stop drunk or drugged lunatics running at 150km/h on rural or deserted roads from getting into urban areas.Sea Skimmer wrote:It won't accomplish anything.
