So, fellow SDnetters, after watching the marvelous Satan's Pit last week, it is now time for the stepchild of the season - Episode 10, Love and Monsters.
Watch as the Doctor and Rose pay hommage to Scooby Doo, a few nerds play ELO and Jackie missing her daughter.
Also, the rating for last weeks episode was 4.4, making it one of the highest rated episodes ever, although besing rated slightly worse than the preceeding episode, which received a solid 4.5.
As always, please post your rating in your post.

A decision must be made in the life of every nation at the very moment when the grasp of the enemy is at its throat. Then, it seems that the only way to survive is to use the means of the enemy, to rest survival upon what is expedient, to look the other way. Well, the answer to that is 'survival as what'? A country isn't a rock. It's not an extension of one's self. It's what it stands for. It's what it stands for when standing for something is the most difficult! - Chief Judge Haywood

This episode is fucking awesome. Nerdling retards who can't understand that the whole episode is shown from the persepctive of a lonely young man can eat a dick; this episode is both hugely camp and directly leads into the finale.
Oh noes, it has teh running around!!! This is clearly not because it's some guy fucking blogging about shit he saw! No sir this actually happened! LOL!
I'm saying a 4.

I enjoyed it, it had some good Jackie scenes, and it was nice to see an episode that wasn't completely based around the Doctor saving people from stuff.
It explores the Doctor from a different perspective, and I appreciate that.
4/5.

I voted a 4.
I thought this was an excellent episode. It does a fantastic job of highlighting one of the major themes of the series - the fact that the Doctor is FUCKING DANGEROUS, and that his actions have serious repercussions on all those involved. Shit, even KNOWING about the Doctor is dangerous, as the fates of the LINDA members shows. I couldn't give a flying fuck that the Doctor isn't on screen for long - he remains central to the plot regardless of his physical presence.
The scene where Rose and the Doctor lure an alien with some meat and then chases it with some buckets of liquid really pisses me off though. Not because I thought it was silly, but because everyone who hates it MISSED THE FUCKING POINT. That's obviously not what really happened, it was just how Elton rationalised something he can't understand.
Great episode overall, and as Stark says, leads directly into the finale.

Just ignore the troll - it's what I do with his vote.Stark wrote:Not you, the dickless smack-wrangler (ps, I think we all know who it is) who just votes 1 on everything. Someone check the logs, it's in the first 22 views.
Confirm what we already know plz.
As for the episode - I am voting a three. Jackie's scenes were well done, but the villain of the show did nothing to me and I do not care for ELO. So yeah, a 3.

I didn't have a scooby what was going on the first time I watched it, but Stark is bang on the money here.
A well-deserved 4.
Elton showed the Doctor as being a highly dangerous man to know, but also one impossible to resist. The point that the Doctor has a big negative impact on those who's lives he touches had been hinted at before (notably SJS in School Reunion) but hadn't previously been spelled out quite as plainly. You KNOW after this, that Rose and Jackie are next on the list.
Again, it makes the latter RTD episodes even more frustrating knowing that he is capable of writing drama like this.
The sniggering teenager in me also enjoyed them getting an obvious "blow job" reference into a "family" show.

What is WRONG with you people
4.5, so I made it a 5. There's very little about this episode I don't like, and none of that detracts from how fun and original it is. The monster could have been better - it's obvious you've got a so-so comedian playing a five-year-old's creation - but in the story it works just fine, and that small niggle is more than compensated for by the humour, the terrific storytelling, the great acting (Marc Warren hasn't played a bad part yet) and the oddball ending.

Also 4/5.
While it had some silly sequences, it only made sense in the context of the framing device, that of a guy trying to recount his experiences, rambling back and forth. It was effectively told, gave us an insight into people who weren't the doctor or currently hanging out with him, and gave us an idea of what 'normal' people who know he exists think of him.
The last bit of the episode was just weird and creepy and somewhat unnecessary, specifically the 'love life, after a fashion'.
Also, I don't think it's quite right to say that the doctor is dangerous, as in 'where he goes, trouble follows'. He mostly goes to situations that are already in motion. It's more accurate to say where trouble goes, he follows. He's still attached to and never far from danger, but it's not always his fault. It sometimes is, though, like in Family of Blood.
