Physics of Shields?
Something I've been wondering for a while, how are shields built in either of the respective universes, and what do they affect? Also, how does one damage shields?

Basically, the rundown is that there are two types of shields: energy shields (good against energy); and particle shields (good against matter). Energy shields protect by absorbing and then reradiating shots back into space, while particle shields apply a force to prevent an object from smashing into the hull.
