Warzone: Table Top Game

Post by TheMuffinKing »

Has anyone here played Warzone the miniatures wargame? I was wondering if any of you have any books or background information from the game as I am hoping to use the universe in several Vs. scenarios. I'm also curious as to your opinions on how this game compared to WH40k from the same time period.

What version we talking 'bought? The Excalibur Ultimate Warzone or the latest edition that uses the hero click thingies?

As for background, a rough one is this: Take World War 1esque forces, lock them in the Sol system on various planets with earth a toxic waste land and make them all sovereign corporate states. Have them be at each other's throats.

Now add dimension spanning forces of Evil(that's not a metaphor, they literally serve sentient evil) and, very roughly, you have the setting.

As for the corporations, you have...

Capitol who are entrenched on a terraformed Mars that is starting to be reclaimed by the red sands. Every citizen has a share in the corp since birth, therefore a vote, and everyone is packing heat (San Dorado is like an old west boom town). Based off the good ol' US of A.

Bauhaus claims Venus, which is a world of rain forests. They ride dinosaurs, are comprised of western and central European descended noble houses, over engineer everything and have big ass tanks.

Mishima is a combination Zaibatsu and Shogunate. Administrators are given fiefdoms rated in koku and swear fealty to their lords. They've turned Mercury into something like Luna from the Moon is a Harsh Mistress.

Imperial[/i] is the UK in space and fanatically religious. They're at Cybertronics throat and are divided into clans. Currently homeless, but they ripped Ganymede from the clutches of Cybertronics.

Cybertronics are the cutting edge. Cyborgs, AI and giant war machines. Their board of directors is unknown, they came about in one of the greatest manipulations of the stock market and are underwatch as agents of the Dark Legion.

The Brotherhood is the religious organization that rose up to put down the first incursion of the Dark Legion. They have mystics, ninja assassins with mystic power and line troops with high tech gear. They view thinking machines as infernal as the Dark Legion first gained a foot hold through them. Luna is their base of operations.

The Dark Legion are a horde of reanimated corpses, humans and machines warped by the dark symmetry and aliens from other dimensions. Five apostles run the show in the solar system, each of them based off a different principle. Currently making a second incursion against a warring humanity.

Look for Mutant Chronicles on google. You might be able to dig up more stuff.

Thanks! I forgot about Mutant Chronicles, I'll give it a look!

Oh, I was asking about the earlier version, sans hero-click things. I remember first playing this back in 1998-99 maybe. Thanks again, I'll start googling.
