The heraldric shield for Space Command looks like it was inspired by ST.

it is possible. "...the command emblem should be patterned on the space operator's badge." It depends on when the space operator's badge was designed.

The centrally superimposed deltoid symbolizes both the Air Force upward thrust into space and the launch vehicles needed to place all satellites in orbit.
To be honest... It's a triangle looking thing. Hardly unique to anybody... And the Star Fleet one looks far different.

Dynastar skies use the same logo. Its not an uncommon site.

I beleive that's the case. Trek used a modified version of it since they hadn't yet decided on Starfleet's origins at the beginning of the series.

Yeah, I thinking that I read somewhere that the trek delta was inspired by this one.

<-- Of course, the same could be said of that one.

Is it just me, or was the SAC emblem not the coolest?

That is interesting. Still, the Starfleet Delta does have afew differences... as well as the asymmetry of the SF Delta, it is also "flat", with no shading.

Still, it's amusing to think that they may eventually decide to rename themselves "Starfleet" and modify their badge accordingly should we ever actually develop a manned interplanetary mission or anything remotely approaching FTL drive.

Hell yes. Air Armament Center comes close, though.

It looks like a rocket.
