In this case, however, actual attack is superfluous. His arguments are so mind-bogglingly stupid that only those with completely petrified grey matter are likely to consider it worthwhile for even a fleeting moment. To deconstruct them would be almost painfully dull, as they contain no actual thought.

Because he made it personal. Half of his arguments mention me by name.starfury wrote:if he is that bad, why will you waste time ripping his stupid arguments to shreds, though I am eagar to see him join the hall of shame. Why are you going to do Darkstar then Wong? Anyone who can read this and not question the author's sanity is beyond hope..

In hindsight, the idea of that kind of RPG likely appeals to a lot of people..

Anyone seen chick's Harry Potter effort?
The Harry Potter books are evil you see, and will lead you into soul-sucking witchcraft. As Mike said, chick's efforts are just so out there, that the only possible reactions are to laugh, cringe or wince (possibly all three at the same time). Anyone who even contemplates agreeing with him is pretty much beyond saving. . .
Hmm - I think Chick might be a major proponent of the King James Version is the true version circular argument as well. . .

Speaking of evil RPGs. When I was in junior high I gave one of the early basic versions of D&D to a neighbor of mine. I couldn't get into the game and since someone had given it to me I passed it along.
A day later his mother burned the whole thing (except maybe the dice) in a trash can. She had gone through the sources listed in the back of the book and noticed all the things that mentioned magic and demons and then deemed it evil enough to warrant burning.
At the time most of us thought it was kind of funny in the wacko sense (plus burning stuff was cool) but as I look back on it I get kind of pissed off..

D&D evil to the Christians? Funny, that.
I wonder what the fear is. Fear that we'd study the demonic, or fear that our thoughts would be on *anything* but the Big Bearded Guy (BBG). Frankly, I'd want to hope that any Thing wanting us to fight the demonic in our lives (as good Christians tell us the BBG wants us to do) would want us to study things like the kind of Sword of Uberness, Your-Nuts-To-My-Fist style anti-demon combat tricks that D&D always has heros doing to said demons.

Fundies love to burn literature. There were a few big well-publicized Florida bonfire of Harry Potter and D&D and sci-fi literature last year, remember? Always remember the Christian fundamentalist credo: books can be dangerous, and should be destroyed unless they're Approved by the Ministry of Thought.Tsyroc wrote:Speaking of evil RPGs. I think some groups have gone after LotR. As if they did those people have nothing better to do than nitpick literature.

Actually, funny you guys should mention that....it so happens that I recall finding an 'interesting' petition online regarding the upcoming film version of "The Twin Towers".
Did you know some morons have actually started a petition protesting the film's "flagrant" use of 9/11 to 'sell more tickets'? I wonder if any of those idiots ever bothered looking at the date when that book was written....

Why is it that everytime I read one of your post, the narration in my head is always in the voice of the Comic Book Guy? You're the only user to have that effect on me, it's not like I read Darth Wong's post in the voice of Yoda.Ryoga wrote:Actually, funny you guys should mention that....it so happens that I recall finding an 'interesting' petition online regarding the upcoming film version of "The Twin Towers".

I get that too USAF, it just may be that the comic book guy is one of the most memorable Simpson characters.

I'm a fan of D&D, and in no version I have ever seen have they ever advocated any of the "erotic pleasure" bullshit chick seems to enjoy vomiting forth from his face.
I wonder what kind of crack he was smoking when he typed that.
In fact, they were incredibly prudish, not mentioning anything about sex at all. Vampire: The Masquerade has more sex in it than all three editions of D&D combined. (Why do you think it's rated Adult-only?)

Interesting the way they admit to using propoganda on us. Perhaps we could find a part of the site that brands these marketing tactics as "evil", thus proving them to be hypocrites. Before you can share the gospel with someone, you must first get their attention. The world knows how to get and hold people's attention... with pictures! Television, movies, videos, comics, etc. Chick tracts use the same technique, using irresistible cartoon pictures to grab the reader's attention. Nobody, young or old, can resist cartoons.

Maybe it's because I'm sarcastic and occasionally rude, like the Comic Book Guy? Hell, I'll admit it...stupid people piss me off.USAF Ace wrote:Why is it that everytime I read one of your post, the narration in my head is always in the voice of the Comic Book Guy? And one of the other prominent members of the Inklings was C.S. Lewis - one of the foremost Christian apologists of the 20th century. (Hmm, the Narnia books are about magic. Does that make them evil? Even though they're an excellent retelling of the Christian myth?)Next of Kin wrote:Will the fundies go after LOTR next (even though Tolkien was a Catholic)?
Hey, I've got an idea! The Chronicles of Narnia as the new Christian Bible!
(Oh, I forgot. Lewis believed in ecumenicisim(sp?). So the fundies probably see him as evil)

I think I actually read the Chick Track or whaterver you call them dealing with RPG's. It was hillarious. It had the friend of the "christian" getting addicted to the game and suddenly developing magical powers then committing suicide. I laughed my ass off thinking it was a joke, then laughed even harder when I found out it was someone trying to be serious.
