Re: New Trek Synopsis on ImperialWiki
I have my wiki password on the other computer so I can't fix it myself, but a few things:
- Calling the Hobus incident a "supernova" follows the script but doesn't match on-screen events. Hobus kept sending out shockwaves.
- Spock didn't "escape" into the black hole. Nero attacked him as he triggered the collapse of Hobus and both ships were sucked in. He in fact states explicitly that Nero went in *first*.
- The Enterprise warps into Titan's atmosphere, not Saturn.

The supernova bit is still there and "black home" is just racist.

Don't underestimate the destructive potential of a black home.Bounty wrote:The supernova bit is still there and "black home" is just racist.

It's still the canon explanation, even if it's scientifically absurd.Bounty wrote:The supernova bit is still there ...

It says JUPTIERS MOON Titan, not Saturns.

I've been asked why I still follow a few of the people I know on Facebook with 'interesting political habits and view points'.
It's so when they comment on or approve of something, I know what pages to block/what not to vote for.

Then the Wiki should make it clear that the "supernova" didn't behave like a supernova.Ted C wrote:It's still the canon explanation, even if it's scientifically absurd.Bounty wrote:The supernova bit is still there ...

I may be crazy, but in two viewings, I am positive that we *see* Spock go through first, and Nero emerge first and earlier.Bounty wrote:- Spock didn't "escape" into the black hole. It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

I will confirm observing this. The Narada went through the initial black hole second, and appeared earliest; Spock entered first, and ended up 25 years in the future from when Nero emerged.Havok wrote:I may be crazy, but in two viewings, I am positive that we *see* Spock go through first, and Nero emerge first and earlier.

Re: New Trek Synopsis on ImperialWiki
And I will refute this. Spock says during the mind meld (twice due to hazy whispery background voices) that Nero went in first.

Re: New Trek Synopsis on ImperialWiki
We see Spock heading towards the black hole, then it cuts to Narada actually going through. During the meld, however, Spock explicitly says Nero went in first.Havok wrote:I may be crazy, but in two viewings, I am positive that we *see* Spock go through first, and Nero emerge first and earlier.Bounty wrote:- Spock didn't "escape" into the black hole. Sloppy seconds to Spock then, right?Jon wrote:Nero went in first.

On topic, I just realized that Sonnenburg's latest ENT review about "Regeneration" had him mentioning maybe Starfleet should bother trying to make their ships a little bit more formitable given their knowledge for the potential of a very powerful enemy in their future.
Could the significantly larger, seemingly more armed Enterprise be an indication they might just be doing that?
Could be another way of tying in 'Enterprise' canon, as repulsive as that might be to some.

Yeah, because they could have build ships dozens of times the volume, but chose not to, right?

Maybe this isn't the place to ask this, but while we're discussing the wiki, is there any chance we could get a slightly different browser icon for that sucker that doesn't make me think I have two SDN tabs open at the same time when I don't?

Re: New Trek Synopsis on ImperialWiki
A lot of the Trek fans I've talked to (such as y mother and her friend who were big fans of the origionl series back in the 60's) seem to think the opposite. According to them, old Kirk just came off as a retarded douchebag who's intelligence was all tied in to actof plot, whereas the new Kirk actually shows intelligence. I would say that this is something too subjective to rule on in the wiki. The wiki wrote:Kirk hardly seems to be an intelligent and charismatic leader in this movie; he's more of a jackass who got lucky.
