Is it just me or does the game look like it's about 5 years old?

Yeah, I was sort of noticing that. That video also more or less screamed 'Tabula Rasa with a license' to me. Now, I actually liked the TR beta, I just didn't have the time for an MMO, so that's not a calamity, but it DOES definitely feel similar from that video footage.

Re: Stargate Worlds taking beta applications
There is definitely a similarity to TR, but then... it's a present-day militaristic sci-fi MMORPG with guns where the humans gotta fight lots of bad alien dudes, so of course it's going to be pretty similar.
Honestly, I'm mostly worried that they're going to do a Star Wars Galaxies and take way too many liberties with the license. Just look at some of the SG-team "armor" they've put together - does that look like anything you'd ever see in the Stargate franchise? Shit like this is why I have undying respect for IP-fascists like Games Workshop.

Hardly breaking news. SGW Beta applications started over a year ago, they've already done the first round of testing, and considering the second round was meant to start in early '09 and hasn't, plus the supposed financial worries and people leaving I just don't see a second round, left alone release, ever happening.

Re: Stargate Worlds taking beta applications
When they produce a game where you can run around entire ships, fly them, do planetary bombardments that actually hit planetary surfaces players are running around on, deploy gliders and fleets to take both space and ground territory...I'll bother being interested.
Until them, old school shit that's just "your typical map efforts masked by Stargate textures" doesn't impress me.
Games like Flashpoint 2 with actual scale interest me. Games that actually have the component of space travel have no excuse whatsoever to not have space as a playing field. Seriously, do they think rendering the void of space is hard?

The site wouldn't take my dxdiag. Not a real big issue since I already have Aion going and have a non chinese open beta copy on preorder.

ITT people who don't understand what MMOs are actually 'about'. PS it's not the theme.
