Boston Dynamics Big Dog
On one hand that is very cool. On the other I am reminded of the robotic hunter-killer dogs chasing Guy Montag in Fahrenheit 451.
Its performance on ice and when struck are several orders of magnitude better than the last quadruped robots I remember coming out of research universities.

Any informed persons here with knowledge on BigDog ? It's been sometime since they became semi famous and I am curious where they are going next with said tech.
