Graphic card messed up, help needed

Post by Tolya »

So, I was playing Vampire: masquerade bloodlines withc a 6.5 patch applied and it crashed. Hard crash, had to reboot my comp.

After rebooting I couldn't boot up - my LCD went blank everytime desktop was about to show. Also, some stripes appeared on my splash screen.

Using safe mode Im able to boot my computer running on 640x480, but nothing else. Here's how my screen loks like now:

My system specs are: Athlon 2000XP+, GeForce 7600GS and 1 gb of ram. Im linking my monitor via a DVI cable (but I guess that's obvious).

Has my graphic card fried or the drivers corrupted? Is there anything I can try before forking out cash for a new card?

Alright, problem solved, running back again.

It turned out the driver was to blame. It was damaged and messed up DVI output. After a few reboots I managed to reinstall the drivers and it's alright again. I was afraid that my geforce fried - it's not a big problem since 7600gs' now fetch a price comparable to cinema tickets for two, but I saved myself a trip to a museum.

I have a mod request to get rid of that screenshot, since it's littering the board. I would edit it out myself but I can't.
