NZ is very lucky. Our fundies are fringe groups who everyone thinks are whacked in the head. These people are told to fuck off at every oppertunity.

Well I live near an Abortion clinic (Abortion is 100% legal ) which I have too drive past to get onto the highway from my street(while my street connects to the highway, it is bitch getting onto it with out any traffic lights), so I see pro-live fundies protesting outside it 9am-4pm weekdays, and saturdays.

I got a laugh when someone when and spraypainted all their signs with black paint.

The differance probable comes from the fact that Australia was primarily settles by convicts and upperclass people who a)got kicked out of England to somewere that doesnt matter b)Took advantage of the new opportunities. Were America primary founders were people fleeing religious persecution and various desperate people lookign for a new life. These are only broad generalities.

Australia does, on the other hand have quite a few xenophobes and other assorted assholes that campaign to limit imigration in Australia. Particularly from China and other asian nations.
These are probably the kids of the 'manifest destiny' assholes who tried to wipe out the Aborigines and later tried to impose their idiotic racism and force eugenics down their throats. See Rabbit Proof Fence.
