The press release, or the kotaku article.
Details:
- 3D display, no glasses required. Speculation is that it uses some kind of face-tracking via camera.
- Backwards compatible with DS and DSi software.
- Must have 2 touchscreens, 2 cameras (for the backwards compatibility).
- To be released in the 2010-2011 financial year.
- To be shown at E3 2010.
I'm cautiously optimistic. No price announced, no details about the hardware announced either. Looks like it's going to be a pretty good E3 for Nintendo this year, though.

Nintendo 3DS announced via press release
A scientist once gave a public lecture on astronomy. He described how the Earth orbits around the sun and how the sun, in turn, orbits around the centre of a vast collection of stars called our galaxy.
At the end of the lecture, a little old lady at the back of the room got up and said: 'What you have told us is rubbish. The world is really a flat plate supported on the back of a giant tortoise.
The scientist gave a superior smile before replying, 'What is the tortoise standing on?'
'You're very clever, young man, very clever,' said the old lady. 'But it's turtles all the way down.'

My initial thoughts when I read this was "Oh, Nintendo's making a new Virtual Boy?"
"It's you Americans. There's something about nipples you hate. If this were Germany, we'd be romping around naked on the stage here."
