Been on a bit of a science fiction movie binge lately and a friend gave me this one. It's a German movie made in 2009 and as far as I know it never had a English release.
The sheer scale of the ships and orbital installations present in this movie are awesome! The story is actually kinda engaging though most of the twists are obvious when a little thought is applied to them.
Still it's got decent actors, a neat setting, and a passable story. One thing though is this is not a happy ever after story, while the main character survives she's pretty much the only one and it seems like there's going to be a great deal of trouble when she returns to earth.
Highly recommended if only for the visuals of truly massive space installations and a sense of scale that's missing in most North American movies.

Re: Cargo (2009) Movie
Okay, trying to avoid spoilers here .
The movie follows a young doctor who wants to go join her sister on the colony planet of Rhea. Rhea was colonized due to Earth's failing ecosystem.
To get the money necessary to join her sister she takes a job on a cargo ship as the onboard medic. The cargo ship is carrying components to upgrade a unmanned station into a transit point for further exploration.
Because there is no FTL the crew spends shifts awake while the rest of the crew is in coldsleep. During one of the medics eight month long shifts she begins to notice things are not what they should be.
The decision is quickyl made to wake the captain and eventually the rest of the crew, and things turn out to be stranger than anybody on board could have imaganed.
Also it's a German movie, is anybody surprised the ending is a little bittersweet?
