Syrian uprising thread.

Seeing as it's been slowly escalating...

Syria deploys tanks in protest crackdown - Around Rastan this time, having already using armour in "supressing" some of the protests in the capital a few times now.

Page not found on that link

Anyway, as far as I can gather the Syrian government appears to be using a strategy of defeat in detail, they are avoiding attacking multiple cities at once as much as possible to limit the daily refugee flux and body flow and help keep things more covert. Its working; and the regime clearly has enough supporters to prevent the protests from gaining ground in other areas. Unless a serious section of the military rebels it’s hard to see much more coming out of this then more dead bodies.

However last Fridays protests were undermined by a message from the Muslim brotherhood in support, which caused many people to avoid going out and being mixed up with those supporters. This coming Friday might show a stronger turnout… but I dunno.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2011 ... 208043.htm - That's the link. For some reason it double-pasted in the OP.
