Star Trek: Renegades

It has been seven long years since Enterprise left the air, and though we’ve had the recent big screen adaptation of Gene Roddenberry’s futuristic vision (and the sequel coming next year), we feel the true home of Star Trek is as a continuing episodic series. The goal of this project is to make that happen.

We, the team who brought you Star Trek: Of Gods and Men, are proud to announce Star Trek: Renegades, a professionally produced television pilot to be presented for a possible online series.

Renegades, as the name suggests, will be bold, edgy and a little dark. Renegades will feature a combination of familiar Star Trek faces, plus a collection of hot, new rising actors (to be announced).

Tim Russ (Tuvok in Voyager) has signed on to direct Renegades. Also currently in the cast are Walter Koenig (Chekov, Original Series), Tim Russ, Gary Graham (Alien Nation; Soval, Enterprise), Garrett Wang (Harry Kim, Voyager), Manu Intiraymi (Icheb, Voyager) and Richard Herd (Admiral Paris, Voyager).

Renegades will be a departure from previous Treks – delving into the dark side of the human psyche, pushing our heroes to their limits, forcing them to carry out actions that they never would have as Starfleet officers. The rules have changed, and they realize they might be the last hope to save the Federation.

Star Trek: Renegades will be action oriented, filled with suspense and espionage; all while exploring new worlds, encountering both familiar and new alien species, and boldly going where no Trek has gone before.

CHECK BACK TO SEE HOW YOU CAN HELP BRING THIS PROJECT TO THE SCREEN!

More information to follow soon!
Looks interesting, and I enjoyed Of Gods and Men. A team of renegades could be fun.

All I can think of when reading this bit is that sketch in Sg-1's '200' with the younger edgier version of the cast. Na-uh. No. No way. *Teal'c stares balefully*

Wait...you mean SGU? :P

On topic though...this sounds like it could be interesting. But it remains to be seen how it actually turns out though. I'm cautiously optimistic about Renegades.

I'm having nightmares about a grimdark Warhammer 40,000-wannabe buried under Star Trek's "bling"- NOT a good sign.

And what the HELL is with the starship design? The bastard of a Klingon Bird-of-Prey that fucked a Defiant class ship too vigorously?
Please do not make Americans fight giant monsters.

Those gun nuts do not understand the meaning of "overkill," and will simply use weapon after weapon of mass destruction (WMD) until the monster is dead, or until they run out of weapons.

They have more WMD than there are monsters for us to fight. (More insanity here.)

Whilst having Walter Koenig on board is impressive, and I rather liked Soval, I'm less than enthused about having Harry and Icheb around? Yes, I know it's the actors not the characters, but I was never impressed with either of them.

Also, "darker and edgier." Oh dear, oh dear oh dear oh dear.
Baltar: "I don't want to miss a moment of the last Battlestar's destruction!"
Centurion: "Sir, I really think you should look at the other Battlestar."
Baltar: "What are you babbling about other...it's impossible!"
Centurion: "No. It is a Battlestar."

A valid concern. Seriously, what is with the Star Trek franchise's recent obsession with becoming an Americanized Warhammer 40,000?

What is your obsession with saying such patently inane things 100% of the time?
What is Project Zohar?

Here's to a certain mostly harmless nutcase.

Ford, the Star Trek franchise has ALREADY been fucked over by idiots trying to make it grimdark (see Star Trek Online). As a former Trekkie, I'm justifiably apprehensive when someone tries to apply the words "dark and edgy" to Star Trek.

There is literally no way you can spin anything that has happened in the franchise in such a way that makes you less of a total wanker. Turning Star Trek into Warhammer 40,000. Do you even read the things you type?

Calling it "plagiarizing their own franchise- specifically, Deep Space Nine- to duplicate Battlestar Galactica's success; and in the process, changing Star Trek's optimistic and pacifistic universe- at least the Federation- into one of unending galactic war," is a bit wordy.
