Romney's Trip Abroad
I was wondering if anyone remembers Romney's trip abroad a few months ago? Yeah, he proved in other countries beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is NOT good leadership material. I think the biggest thing to highlight this is him claiming that the Palestinians have an inferior culture, and having one of his aides promise to support Israel if it came to war with Iran, something he as a candidate cannot promise unless he is president, and he is not.
Any thoughts?

It was a mild embarassment. It won't have hurt him with the die-hards, but with middle-of-the-road types who are actually politically invested, his fumblings probably saw opinion on him grow slightly more disfavorable.
More meaningful was him, I bet, was getting caught writing off half the country as entitled no-work victims. This reinforces an already-existing suspicion folks seem to have of him: that he's a disconnected, indifferent rich guy with no understanding of those who actually worry about money.

A waste of time, when he had a pretty limited amount of time to work with. It may not have hurt him much, but it ate up some of the limited time until the election while accomplishing nothing.Lord Falcon wrote:Any thoughts?
"There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs." - John Rogers

Republicans' respect of a president's foreign policy seems to be inversely correlated how much people outside America like him. Obama is popular with Europeans, so he's a soft, socialist suck up pussy. But Romney is hated by everyone outside of the American South and Midwest, and is therefore tough, assertive and masochistic.

Masochist? Do you mean macho? Masochist means he takes pleasure in pain.

You are getting more and more annoying. Starting thread after thread of shit like this when there is one main thread which is even stickied which is supposed to handle the whole election thingie.Lord Falcon wrote:Any thoughts?
Either someone is paying you to do stupid shit like this or you should up your medication.
Not necessarily.Luke Skywalker wrote:Republicans' respect of a president's foreign policy seems to be inversely correlated how much people outside America like him.
Bush Sr got respect in euroland, Bush Jr didn't for instance. Going back two more republican presidents then Ford was respected, Reagan wasn't.
Its really only in the last four elections that you see the full move to anti-intellectualism. Where one sign of intellectualism is foreign experience, like Huntsman who was shot down because he had done a good job for the US abroad.

And Bush Jr won a second term, while his daddy did not.Spoonist wrote: Not necessarily.

And yet Reagan was and is far more popular than Ford.Going back two more republican presidents then Ford was respected, Reagan wasn't.

I don't know why, but I get the vibe that Rommey was attempting to copy the success Barrack Obama had during his run up to Presidency with a successful foreign tour.
Let him land on any Lyran world to taste firsthand the wrath of peace loving people thwarted by the myopic greed of a few miserly old farts- Katrina Steiner
