Two scenarios

One: A pod has come in from outer space, and landed next to you. Upon examining it, you are quickly infected and turned into a body snatcher/the queen. Your overruling drive for everything is to infect every human on Earth, starting with your town, and spreading thorughout in the most logical way to do so. How will you do this without being detected, killed, or having the entire human race destroy you and your kind?

Two: You are the normal you, noticing that people around your town are slowly changing, becoming different. How do you blow the lid on this without being killed, copied, replaced, and essentially body snatched?

If you need specifics on what type of body snatcher specifically, let's say the ones from the movie, The Faculty, in that transformation requires infecting the host, needs water constantly, doesn't take well to diuretic drugs, and has a queen bee alien masquerading as someone in the town.

So, what do you do in both scenarios?

Well, I'll settle for #1 for now. What are our snatcher production capabilities? As in being the queen do I have to poop out each egg individually or is it like spores that I can mass produce or what? Also, how quickly does the infection take hold? Can I just drag someone into a public bathroom stall and have it done before anyone outside is the wiser? Or do I like have to keep him locked up in my basement for a week?

I see. And how fast can we breed these things? As in, how many new creatures can I spawn per day? Or is it more like who ever is infected being able to infect others ad infinitum?

Essentially Von Neumanning it, upon the limitation of the host body and the parasite(that being you) both need constant amounts of water so you don't dry up. This does have the negative consequence for the parasite of having unfit bodies to inhabit, such as the elderly nurse which was found in the closet in that scene, as she was too old to be a healthy host.

I see. In that case my first order of businesses would be to hire a prostitute. The simple fact is that these girls won't mind me going for a "kiss" to the ear before it is too late to resist. And if they do scream people will just assume I paid her to. And because they do tend to get around I can expect each and every one of them to be an excellent way of furthering the infection to their clients which in turn would infect more girls. I would hope to by the end of the first month or so control most of the prostitute population in town simply by cross pollination. From that point on I would hope to try and get some of their clients imprisoned. Prisons are risky but are a closed environment where cross pollination is very easy to achieve. And every times an infected prisoner is released to his home he takes with him my infection to the local prostitutes. I can easily imagine infecting huge parts of the population this way.

Now, obviously this is not a world conquest situation. I can hardly expect to raise an army of prostitutes. But what I can achieve is to integrate the infection deep into the population in a way that is almost impossible to root out. And with time and generations I can use the sexually promiscuous western society to my benefit to slowly infect everyone. Why am I focusing on sexuality? Well for the obvious reason mentioned at the beginning. It is the one human activity where close personal contact can be initiated safely and without resistance from the victim until it is too late.

Scenario two... how much do we know about this infestation and how fast do we know it? Would we have to figure all this stuff out ourselves?

for the infestation, I'd target places like prisons, juvenile detention centers, drug treatment centers, AA groups, anywhere that aims to create some kind of long term behavioral change in people. Well, mission accomplished! After that point, released agents can either join or form community improvement groups, and from there infest the surrounding community (ex-cons will also have the chance to infect parole officers, giving me an easy route to control of local police forces). I won't aim to infect 100% of the population, as the movement would start to look at little too effective if all recidivism, crime, drug use, etc dropped. As the infestation spreads, local and state media organizations will likely visit the infested areas, interested in the effect the co-opted organizations are having on the surrounding community. Once the media is infested, they can begin target the nation's political leaders, either via direct infestation or by inducing them to visit the infested zones. Infected politicians can spread the parasite to almost anywhere via arranging a fact-finding tour or some nonsense, espcially within the military (what politician doesn't have several dozen shots of themselves posing with the troops?). At some point (likely several years after my infestation), I'll have enough control over the target's police and military forces (via either direct control, or by control the commanders of such forces) to began openly attacking and infesting the population, using my command of media to obfuscate what's really going on.

At the same time I'm doing this, I'll began propagating word of what I'm doing (or at least a version of what I'm doing) among conspiracy theorists/ufo believers/etc. This will allow me to convince anyone who starts to suspect the truth ("Yeah, I'm being controlled by an evil alien parasite. It's all being run by our Kenyan president to conceal the fact that he was behind 9/11").


As for fighting the infestation, I'll have to give that a bit more thought.

If we really are dealing with the aliens from The Faculty, if I recall correctly, they require lots of water to survive and can be killed by diuretics. Since we don't have access to the designer drug Josh Hartnett made in that movie, Lasix for everyone, I suppose.

How about a scenario that involves the actual body snatchers from the eponymous story? Their infiltration process is more involved which means more thought has to be put into making their invasion work. For the Faculty aliens it's just keep low as long as possible and play the long game which isn't so interesting.
