Actually, that only helps the Fundies even MORE...see, Haiti is a shithole.

The fundies will claim that's because godless Voodooism is the state religion,
not Christianity....

I thought voodoo was simply a conglomeration of superstitions.

You know, since Haiti was the product of a successful slave revolt, Haitian Voodoo, or Hoodoo, is closer to the original African shamanism and animism systems than what is found in Africa today. Of course, we still find some strange cases of syncretism there; an example being the blending of Catholicism into some of the Voodoo sects where Mary was added into their existing pantheons.

Anyway, no, Voodoo is not considered to be a "negative" religion. I believe that it has an evil element to it, but overall, the practitioners consider themselves to be following a positive religion.

I suggest that you people read about Wade Davis. He wrote about his experiences in Haiti and what he has learned about the culture and the famous Hatian zombies. He is an anthropologist, by the way.

I thought that "Voodoo" was a misnomer for Vodoun?

I believe that there are two or three ways it can be spelled.
