My WoC is a medieval broadsword. But the only good ones I can find are glorified replicas, and those are only good for LARPs... Well, GOOD LARPs, anyway. The ones where you fight with real swords instead of those shitty wooden ones with silver electrical tape or spraypaint. ::Sighs:: No one is ever in the mood for a good metal-on-metal phallyc display anymore.

Ah well... life goes on.

I like Falchions. The slender Sting-like variant, not the machette platemail-buster type.

I'm nitpicking on semantics, but shouldn't this thread read "from a more civilized age"?

(Yes, I know it's debatable, but that's not the point!)

I've heard good things about the Pratical Plus Katana by Paul Chen... alot cheaper than $1000 dollars too...

They're nice for the $400 that they cost, but they're not nearly as good as the custom made Wally Hayes ones. I've read that the PPK steel is softer and not as durable, and it's not a full tang handle so it could eventually come apart under hard impacts.

At that pricepoint I'd go with the Criswell Katana, it's a hollow ground differentially tempered A2 steel blade. It's a utilitarian design that's well suited for hard use and combat but doesn't look as good.

I'm not much for modern or extra-fancy styled Japanese swords, but that Criswell looks pretty nice.
