Who would you rather be?

Okay...seems there are few more hated on these boards than people who seriously bum star trek, and those who bum religion....so if you had to be one, which would it be?

if you wish to be trekkie, you must renounce all other sci fi universes, (the entire combined might of the first ones, younger races, and thirdspace aliens, AND the GE and culture wouldn't be able to stop the defiant and the enterprise from the current show, which you love.

OR

if you wish to be zealot, you're allowed to watch whatever sci fi you want, and get to live your life fairly normally, apart from at weekends you must give out pointless pamphlets about how everyone else is going to hell, and you must abstain from sex until you are married, and even then, you're only allowed to do it if you get a baby at the end.

so...who would you rather be?

I'd rather be a Trekkie. I wouldn't want to spend my weekends passing out pamphlets and abstaining from sex, although if I ever became a fundie, I probably wouldn't mind doing that. That's why they become fundies.

Nope, having had many of such debates like this in school, people often resort to death as an option, but no, you must live out the rest of your life as one of the options..it's a binary system.

It's like asing, "Would you rather have your pinkie finger cut off, or your head?" I'd go with Trekkies. At least when they die they aren't expecting to be transported to Voyager to become a permanent extra in the TV series.

Diehard Trekkies are weird, IMO. It always seems strange to watch someone using a hobby like a junkie uses heroin. But, on the other hand, it's ultimately a harmless occupation. Trektards are pathetic, but they generally don't hurt anyone (they're usually too wimpy, and IDIC forbids violence). It's their life, and they've chosen to live it in a strange fashion, and that's it.

Fundies, on the other hand, champion a cause that usually aims to hurt, kill, enslave, repress, and ostracise people outside their own narrow worldview. I would rather be the world's most insanely raving Trekkie than having anything to do with these scum.
