[Sports]Wild make history, Grizzlies ARE history!

Post by Iceberg »

The Minnesota Wild advanced to the Western Conference Finals in the NHL playoffs, becoming the first team in NHL history to come back from two 3-1 deficits in the same year to advance.

Not bad for a three-year-old team that everybody expected to fade early and end up in the back of the pack.

And their opponents are none other than...

THE ANAHEIM MIGHTY DUCKS!?!?!?!? WHAT GIVES?

Deja vu. Once again we have a Minnesota sports team that nobody expected to do anything, let alone get this far in the playoffs, playing FREAKING ANAHEIM, the lowest-seeded team in the entire playoffs, for the right to play for the big trophy.

Here's hoping the Wild do a little better now than the Twinkies did back in October.

The Vikings and Timberwolves won't get my loyalty until they've proven they deserve it - especially the Vikes, who seemed to be just going through the motions last year. The Wild are unpolished, but a lot of fun to watch, so they've got it provisionally.

actually, the Edmonton Oilers were the lowest seeded team in the west

This is the 3rd time in less than a year Southern Cali and Minnesota have met in playoff situations.

Anaheim Angels def. Minnesota Twins 4-1, ALCS
Los Angeles Lakers def. Timberwolves, 4-2 1st round NBA playoffs
Anaheim Mighty Ducks vs. Minnesota Wild.

I expect a similar outcome, Bring the cup to the pond baby!
