Last year after I read stravo's fiction I had an idea about writing my story. So finaly after nearly eight months I finaly decided to write it down. This story is abour how Janeway starts an intergalactic war that alters the fate of both galaxies. Tell me how do you like it and I will be posting more chapters later.

Star Trek: Imperial Dawn

Chapter 1: First Contact

There was not many people on Voygers bridge at this time of the day. Captain Janeway was at her quarters and commander Chakotay had the Bridge. Things were going routinely for the bridge crew. After surviving for years on the far side of the galaxy they were ready for anything. But today it seemed there was nothing to worry about.

"Looks like you have been feeling bored lately Mr Kim" Chakotay commented.

"Working as a science officer can be dull at times sir" Kim replied, "there is not much to do except scan surrounding space. Now I can see a red giant, two white dwarfs and a G class star within nine light years of our position. Nothing to be excited about."

"I see your point ensign. Perhaps you would be a little more happier if I assigned you to work with seven in the astrometrics lab."

Some of the bridge crew laughed at the comment. Seven never really liked Kim, and the fact really hurt Kim at times. He resented being considered young and naive after all the situations he went through in the last few years on Voyger. He was about to say something but his reply was cut short.

"Commander I am detecting a subspace anomaly ahead. It is unlike any I have seen before."

"Inform the captain. Range to anomaly ?"

"1.2 light years, about an hour at warp 9."

By the time captain Janeway arrived on the bridge further information had been learned on the anamoly. "What's our situation Chakotay ?" Janeway asked.

"There appears to be a subspace anamoly nearby. Our scans indicate the anomaly is some sort of a tunnel through space-time, a wormhole if you like."

"A wormhole ? Any idea where it leads ?"

"I would not bet it would take us home but that is always a possibility."

"Let's hope it does. Tom set a course for the wormhole, maximum warp" Janeway said.

"Aye captain" Tom replied. Voygers warp engines flared as incredible energies were diverted from the warp core sending the ship hurtling at faster than light speeds.

News of the wormhole had spread fast among the crew. Most viewed the possibility of the wormhole leading to the alpha quadrant with skepticism. They had seen many such false hopes before. Still crew morale was boosted by the possibility they could be home soon.

An hour has passed since Voyger arrived at the site of the wormhole. "Tuvok what can you tell us about the wormhole" Janeway asked.

"The wormhole appears to be stable dispite some tetryon emissions, I belive we could safely enter it. However we have no idea what lies on the idea other side so I suggest we think carefully before making the decision to go in."

"Pehaps we can send a probe" Tom Paris commented.

"I don't think so. Therer is too much radiation emanating from the wormhole, an unshielded probe would be destroyed quickly. We would have to take the ship in". Harry Kim said.

"Captain I am reading temporal flux from the wormhole, it leads to the past. We would be violating the temporal directive should we chose to enter it." Tuvok said, the Vulcan was as always without any emotion.

"At least that removes the possibility of us being home any time soon, wherever it leads it definitely will not take us to the alpha quadrant." Tom said. He could say the hardest things in a cheerful way.

Captain Janeway did not appear to be disturbed by the latest revelation.. "This is a ship of exploration I say we go in." she said.

"Katherine you put the ship and the crew at risk many times. I say you think carefully before you make the decision. Who knows what dangers could be waiting for us on the other side." Chakotay said..He was always cautious. His long experience with the maqui taught him to consider the risks before jumping into something.

"I am fully aware of that but as a Starfleet vessel our duty is to go where no one has gone before. This wormhole will take us to a long gone era in an unknown part of space, I have made the decision to go in." Janeway said, slightly annoyed at Chakotay's comment. She always trusted Chakotay, despite his being Maqui their relationship has grown considerably over the years and sometimes she wondered whether she could live without him.

"Helm bring us about, Mr Paris take us in" Janeway said.

Voyger cruised swiftly towards the wormhole. A bluish rift filled with energy opened revealing a dark opening. The crew held their breath as Voyger entered the opening. Seconds later the ship was in an unknown part of space, in another era.

Captain Janeway looked at the star filled view screen and spoke "What's our status Mr Tuvok?"

"We have made it through safely. Shields and structural integrity seem unaffected." Tuvok replied

"Mr Kim any idea on where we are ?" Janeway asked.

"Captain star patterns do not match our star charts. Reports are coming in from the astrometrics, putting it on screen."

The image of a blonde female in a tight cat suit appeared on the main viewer. "Captain it seems the wormhole appears to have brought us in to another galaxy on the far side of the universe. Our position is in the outer rims of this galaxy. At present I am not detecting any vessels but I would advise that we remain sharp."

"Thank you Seven of Nine." Janeway answered.

One of the striking things about seven was her beauty and her borg nature, despite being rescued from the collective several years ago she still remained a borg at heart. Some even say she is less emotional than Tuvok. But she is one of Voyger's most dedicated crews, working hard to repay the debt she owes them for freeing her from the collective.

Several days had passed since voyager's arrival in this galaxy. They had yet to detect signs of intelligent life here. But they were confident they would eventually encounter other species in this galaxy. This was a vast galaxy over 200000 light years across with hundreds of billions of star systems. Any of them could be home to star faring species.

"Captain we might as well considering turning back. We have yet to detect anything of value here" Harry said. He was impatient. If having been trapped in the other side of the galaxy on his first commission was not bad enough Captain Janeway was wasting time exploring some nameless galaxy.

"Be patient ensign we have been here for only a week or so. I am sure will meet other star faring species here. It is possible species here use technology that is totally different from ours making it difficult to detect their ships using conventional techniques. We just might have to be patient and wait for them to find us. Making contact would carry substantial benefits for us. Their technology might be superior to ours, it could perhaps even enable us to make it to earth in our lifetime" Janeway replied. She understood Harry's concerns well. But Starfleet's directive was to explore the universe and though Voyger may never make it to earth the data they collected would someday prove useful to others. Tuvok was about to add something but was cut off by Harry.

"Captain a spacial rift is forming 2 million kilometers to the starboard. A ship is emerging." Kim shouted. "On screen." Janeway said. The static filled image of a mile long dagger shaped starship appeared on the main viewer.

"What's wrong ? Why can't we get a clear image ?" Janeway said.

"Captain the alien vessels is creating intense interference with our sensors. I am attempting to compensate but I doubt it would help much" Tuvok answered.

"Mr Paris hail them. Tell them to stop jamming our sensors." Janeway said.

"Hailing frequencies open, no response." Paris replied.

"Captain I am detecting support craft launches, possibly fighters. Can't get lock on them, there is too much interference." Kim said.

"Can you put them on screen Harry so that we can see what they look like." Chakotay said.

"These small craft are equipped with some sort of ECM.Can not get a stable lock on them but will try my best." Kim replied. The static filled viewscreen shifted to the highly distorted image of some kind of fighter craft. From what Chakotay could make out of the distorted image they were about six meters long and resembled a ball with solar panels attached to the sides.

"So much for a clear image of the fighters Mr Kim what can you tell us about this alien starship ?" Chakotay said.

"I could not scan their hull through all this interference but a passive scan revealed that their hull is made of some kind of neutronium alloy, I am not detecting any known weapon configurations but optical scans show hundreds of turret like structures indicating this is a warship, Most interestingly captain I am not detecting any warp signature at all, it seems they use an unknown kind of faster than light drive." Kim said.

"Also captain sensors are not detecting any frequencies in their shields indicating shielding technology advanced beyond metaphasic shields." Tuvok added.

"Captain the interference has subsided we are being hailed putting it on scree.n" Tom said.

The image a slender middle aged man with graying hair in military uniform appeared, in the background white armored soldiers could be seen.

"This is captain Stovkor of the imperial star destroyer Revenge. You have ignored our hyperwave transmissions forcing us to open a subspace channel, you shall suffer for your insolence .In the name of emperor Palpatine lower your shields and prepare to be boarded." the captain spoke in a commanding tone.

Captain Janeway and rest of the bridge crew were stunned to find a human in another galaxy. However she quickly recovered and said "This is captain Katherine Janeway of the federation starship Voyger. We apologize for failing to respond as we are not familiar as to what hyperwave transmissions are. But I am making this clear we armed and will respond in kind to any aggression."

"Insubordination is intolerable !, lock turbolasers and fire !"

Consoles exploded all over the bridge burning some unfortunate ensigns. Lights went out for a moment plunging the bridge into darkness. As the lights came back Janeway said "Status reports ?"

"We have taken direct hits from a plasma weapon. Our shields have failed, There are hull breaches on multiple decks. Plasma conduits are exploding all over ship. Causality reports are coming in throughout the ship" Tuvok said.

"Engineering to bridge" the intercom chimed.

"Go ahead b'leana" Janeway said.

"The warp core containment fields are failing. Matter antimatter reaction rates are approaching critical levels. We are going to have core breach if I can not find additional power to maintain containment."

"Acknowledged. Do your best to find additional power to maintain containment. Reroute power from any auxiliary systems you want." Captain Janeway was still too stunned to believe the Revenge would open fire with out any provocation. The arrogant nature of Revenge's captain Stovkor disgusted her. Back home in the federation such a captain would never obtain command rank. If this is an example of the galactic empire as they identified themselves they were one mean, ruthless people.

"Captain shuttle craft in bound, possibly boarding parties. Strange they have not used transporters, may be they do not have transporters." Kim said.

"Prepare for repelling boarders. Computer lock the main command processors authorization Janeway one six eight." Janeway said.

"Captain we may not able to repel the enemy boarders in our weakened state. I would suggest initiating self destruct." Tuvok said.

"Mr Tuvok are you looking forward to dying in a blaze of glory like a klingon ? Well I am not and I am sure most us want to live to see another day. We will somehow find a way to get out of here. Tom take us to warp speed." Janeway said.

"Unable to engage warp drive captain they have locked a tractor beam on to us" Tom replied.

The look on Captain Janeway's face was one of horror. Their only avenue of escape has been closed. "Tactical target the Revenge and fire all weapons." Janeway said hoping for a miracle.

Angry phaser beams and photon torpedoes struck the Revenge doing little damage to its shields. The Revenge returned fire with bluish bolts of ion cannon fire targeting voyagers weopen systems.

"Tuvok why have you stopped firing" Janeway anxiously said as voyagers weapons suddenly went silent.

"Captain the Revenge struck our weapon systems with some kind of charged particle beam that knocked out our phaser banks and photon torpedo launchers" the Vulcan calmly replied.

Fierce battle was taking place throughout Voyger between the crew and the white armored soldiers. The soldiers were shooting plasma bolts that blew holes in tritanium walls sending clouds of deadly shrapnel. Even a near miss from these plasma bolts proved lethal for many of Voyger's crew. The soldiers were supported by several different kinds of robotic war machines. The smaller skeletal droids were relatively easy to kill and came in large numbers. But the bigger three legged spider like droids were equipped shields that made them immune to phaser fire. Then there was the hovering tennis ball sized machines that harassed the defenders and scouted attack routes.

On the bridge Captain Janeway remained vigil with a phaser in hand. "Chakotay what is our situation" she said as the ship's first officer returned to the bridge covered in blood.

"Not good captain. Those soldiers are wearing some kind of armor. It takes several shots to kill them. These guys could see through darkness and are shooting out lights whenever possible. We have tried forcefields but they are using some kind of thermal grenades to knock them down. Anesthetic gas have no effect on them due to their protective suits. We are losing this battle Katherine" Chakotay said.

Captain Janeway could not believe it. After all those years of surviving in the delta quadrant their journey was coming to a terrible end.

"Computer initiate self destruct sequence authorization Janeway one two four" She said

"Unable to comply due to damage to secondary command processors."

Suddenly the bridge door blew open revealing a team of armored soldiers standing beside a machine gun like contraption. "Fire the e-web" One the of them shouted. An almost continuous beam of bolts fired towards the Captain. She lost consciousness as a piece of shrapnel struck her head.

"That's the last of them. You may bring in recovery teams. Repeat ship is secured." A stormtrooper standing in Voyger's shuttle bay reported in his comlink. The shuttle bay door was blown by the voyager's crew in a desperate move exposing it to the cold vacuum of space but that did not matter to the trooper for stormtrooper armor enabled him to survive in space for a short time.

Captain Janeway found herself in a dark cramped cell as she regained consciousness. The walls of her cell even the bed was made of steel. It was very claustrophobic and uncomfortable. Whoever the Empire was they surely knew how to handle prisoners. The pain in her head was gone and she could think clearly now. What happened to Voyger and the crew she wondered, Suddenly the door opened revealing a figure escorted by two white armored soldiers. The stranger gave her something, her universal translator. After Janeway put it on the man began to speak "Welcome to the Galactic Empire captain, I am sure you found our behavior uncompromising and ruthless. Hope you enjoy your stay on board the Revenge"

"What have done to my crew ? What have we done to deserve this ?"

"Calm down captain. Many of your crew were killed by our stormtroopers during the boarding action. The survivors are ok though some of them 'disappeared' during their interrogation." the man said with a wicked smile.

"You mean you tortured them to death. How could you be so barbaric ?" Janeway said not caring what the response would be.

"Enough small talk. I am the Revenge's chief intelligence officer Tylor. Captain Stovkor wants to see you. He will ask you some questions and I " he paused "will make sure you answer them correctly. Now I must warn you that captain Stovkor is an angry man, It would be in both of our interests if you cooperate."

"And if I do not ?" Janeway said wondering how many of her crew met their deaths at the hands of imperial intelligence.

"Oh really. Come I must show you something" Tylor said again sporting that wicked smile.

The stormtroopers led Janeway to a turbolift. They arrived at what looked like a massive hanger bay. There was blood on the floor. Several bodies in Starfleet uniform were lying face down with their hands tied. Apparent they had been shot with their hands tied behind their back.

"You killed them. How could you be so inhuman ?" Janeway said. The imperials look so human like that she expected them to follow the same rules as the federation.

"They were executed for not cooperating. I am sure you do not want to meet the same fate as them captain."

"I am prepared to die. Let my crew go"

"A noble offer on the part of you but it will do no good. Have you seen what explosive decompression can do to a human body. If you refuse to cooperate I will begin spaceing your crew one by one. For the final time captain will you cooperate with us ?"

"Yes, inform captain Stovkor I will answer any questions he asks." Janeway said in an emotional tone. The stormtroopers began pushing her to start walking again. They were led to another turbolift. After walking through many corridors they arrived at the captains office.

"Greetings captain Janeway." Captain Stovkor said in an arrogant tone. "I require access codes to your main computer. My slicers working on your computer core say they will take days to retrieve them. But I want that computer online NOW."

"I will tell you the access codes. But first I need to see my crew." Janeway said

"You will comply with what I said. Remember captain you are in no position to make demands here" Stovkor angrily replied.

"Very well take me to Voyger and I will bring the main computer online"

"Voyger is in my main docking bay. Your computer system is voice activated, I can not permit you to initiate self destruct causing great damage to my ship. You will give ME the access codes."

Janeway paused for a moment. She was onboard a warship in another galaxy billions of lightyears from home. And here there are humans who look just like her. The resemblance ended there though as these people are the most ruthless she has ever seen.
She began to tell them the access codes but was interrupted. A hologram appeared in corner of the room.

"Admiral Jarod sir, what is your command ?" captain Stovkor said in an unusually humble tone.

"Imperial command has received word of your interception of an unidentified alien vessel in the rim sector 234. You will receive a commendation for this. Your work here is done. Set a course towards station delta and rendezvous with the prisoner transport Corrain. Transfer Janeway and her crew to the Corrain and await debriefing. Jarod out"

"Our conversation ends here captain janeway. Tylor take the captain to her cell and make sure she stays there. Tranfer her to the Corrain once we arrive at station delta. You are dismissed." Stovkor said. This is going good he thought. Soon he shall be assigned to his new command, probably a powerful Shockwave class star cruiser.

Captain Janeway could not tell how many hours had passed in her desolate cell when Tylor returned with the stormtrooper escorts. "We are going captain. Hope you liked your stay on the Revenge" Tylor said. Janeway was taken to a hanger bay where a sleek black shuttle was waiting. She considered escape but then gave up. The benders holding her was made of some kind of unbreakable metal. No matter how she tried they would not get loose. As soon as she and Tylor and the guards were on board the shuttle took off.
She got a good view of the Revenge as the shuttle left the ship. The Revenge was huge, over a mile long. The primary guns seemed over 200 feets long each. They were heading towards another smaller ship that looked no more than 400 meters long. In the distance station delta the imperial center of operations in the sector could be seen. Smaller ships guarding the station seemed tiny in comparison to the 20 km wide station. She was thinking about how small federation starbases were when the shuttle shook violently. A group of ships led by a pair of 1200 meter long pickle shaped cruisers had just emerged from hyperspaces. Waves of fighter craft emerged from their hanger bays. The imperial Enforcer class star frigates launched their own tie squadrons and engaged the intruders.

Suddenly there was a scream as Tylor shot the guards and the pilot in quick succession. "The Revenge has entered hyperspace, they can not recall her but I am picking up an Allegiance in bound at lightspeed, we must get to the Freedom quickly. Can you fly a Tyderium shuttle ? I am taking weapon control to blast our way." Tylor said in an excited tone.

"Tylor you shot your own men ! Why are doing this for me ? The Empire will execute you." Janeway said. She was astonished by Tylor's actions. Perhaps she was wrong about all the people in this galaxy being ruthless. Her life depends on Tylor now.

"You mean you can not fly a shuttle ? Well looks like I will be flying. Surprised by what I did Eh ? I never worked for the Empire in the first place, I was a rebel operative aboard the Revenge. When the rebellion learned the Empire has captured an alien ship they decided to activate me. They hope your people could become our allies providing much needed support and technology to fight the Empire. I am taking you to Captain Taska's ship the Freedom." Tylor said. Janeway was curious. But decided not ask any more questions now as Tylor was busy flying through the battle.

The rebel cruisers and Nebulon - B frigates were doing well against the Enforcers.
X-Wing fighters were keeping the ties away allowing the mon calamari cruisers and B-Wing fighters to concentrate fire on the imperial frigates. The smaller rebel ships were not doing well, their shields were steadily failing under the enforcers fire.
Suddenly a massive 2.2 kilometer long vessel exited hyperspace followed by an interdictor cruiser and two star destroyers. A rebel Nebulon B detonated like a small sun as it took a full broad side from the mighty allegiance cruiser. On the bridge of the MC80 Freedom captain Taska was giving commands.

"Is Janeway on board" he asked. He was very tense as his fleet was being torn apart between the enforcers and the allegiance.

"Yes sir. Janeway is on board and safe" one of the bridge crew replied.

"Plot a course out of here before we are reduced to scrap metal" Taska ordered

"Captain the interdictor has powered up its gravity well generators we are trapped"

"Sir incoming transmission from Benevolence"

"My ship is coming apart Taska ! Some one put that allegiance out of commission fast." the mon calamari spoke in a tense tone, fear clearly visible in his voice. The Benevolence's shields had failed and her hull was coming apart under fire from the allegiance.

"Hold on there friend. We are taking fire from two star destroyers. Have your fighter squadrons join up with our fighter wing and commence an attack on the star destroyers."

"Acknowledged. Informing CAG."

Several of the smaller rebel ships had been destroyed leaving the Freedom, two Nebulon Bs and the badly damaged Benevolence. "Set a course for the interdictor. Ramming speed" ordered captain of the Benevolence. It was clear they could not escape to hyperspace with the interdiction field operational and someone had to make a sacrifice so the others can live.

"No do not do it. We stand together and die fighting the Empire." Captain Taska spoke in his comlink. He was afraid to lose his old friend and trusted partner.

"You have something aboard that the rebellion needs. Go now and make us and the rebels
proud." The Benevolence's captain spoke in a calm voice.

The Benevolence increased her speed and seconds later collided with the interdictor cruiser causing a massive explosion in space. Captain Taska wiped tears from his face as the fireball disappeared. "Good bye old friend I will make these imperials pay, I promise"
He said to himself.

The rebel ships jumped to hyperspace leaving behind the wreckage of the destroyed ships. They also left behind the departed souls of thousands of men who believed they had died fighting for a cause.
