Enterprise New (Spoilers)

1. How the fuck did that Xindi ship get that close to Earth? What the hell did they think it was?
2. How the fuck did that Klingon ship get that close to Earth? Do they have a cloaking device?
3. MISSED OPPORTUNITY 1: Show the attack! Groundside effects, rescue efforts, etc. Instead, we get an after image that shows barely anything.
4. MISSED OPPORTUNITY 2: Show the crew's reaction! Maybe the location of the attack is classified, so people don't know if their friends and family are alive are not. This is writing itself
5. MISSED OPPORTUNITY 3: Jack Bauer in space! Have the Enterprise actually investigate how attacked Earth and why. Instead we have Mr. Future dude tell them everything.
6. Why the fuck did Mr. Future Dude need Enterprise to stop the Xindi? Why not send a fleet of cell ships and blow them to hell?
7. The Vulcans STILL need proof of Time Travel? Did the knowing exactly where the Suliban ships were and getting a decloaker in "Shockwave" not enough? Of course, even after shown the future made debris, the Vulcans cling to their Ministry of Science's decleration (are they scientists or Fundies? This sounds a lot like how people refused to accept the Earth orbits the Sun and stuff).
8. More Enterprise Evil Vulcans™? Now they lie to get on to Enterprise and find out about Enterprise.
9. MISSED OPPORTUNITY 4: Instead of Archer just promoting someone to science officer, bring a replacement along from SF. Or promote one before they set off. When T'Pol decides to stay, the two can conflict and lots of drama.
Way more to come.

My guess is that the Xindi aren't responsible for this attack at all. Rather, Future Guy somehow is.
He's lying to Archer, trying to get him to provoke a war with a future member of the Federation.
That's all that makes sense to me, anyway...this "Expanse" has got to be WELL inside the Federation's borders in Kirk's time, so I figure the people inside it are, if not founding members, at least important members of the young UFP.
Furthermore, it doesn't make sense to have the Vulcans and humans fight. Their ties are too strong, in spite of all the mistrust and air of contempt. And Andorians, while "warlike," are a known quantity, as well.
No; to accuse someone of being responsible for an attack, they must be an unknown quantity. Aliens that live in the heart of an unexplored region, one surrounded by mystery and intrigue, are the perfect targets.
I seriously doubt it'll turn out that way, though. I don't think Bunky and Buttplug are that smart

The whole episode is one big take off of 9-11 much like the episode in TOS where the Federation and Klingons go to war. That was suppoed to talk about the Cold War.
Now that I mention it, Balance of Terror seems to remind me of the Cuban Missle Crisis too.

I saw the promo of Earth getting toasted and almost wanted to watch. Almost. But I know the event is going to be time-traveled out of existence. Cop-out.

All the damn beam did was dig a ditch.....WTF???????? Oi you would think it would be one nasty blast that leaves a nice big crater ..or even it takes several shots THEN Earth ships arrive to destroy it and we get a ship combat scene

As you can clearly see in the beginning, it simply phases into existence near the orbit. It certainly doesn't look like it uses conventional warp. It also takes only about ten seconds until it launches the beam weapon, giving Earth no time to react.
2. How the fuck did that Klingon ship get that close to Earth? Do they have a cloaking device?
Just how extensive and capable the ENT-era sensor network is? Also remember that this was only a one small vessel. Besides, in "Homecoming" (DS9) a runabout sneaked to Cardassia 4 and made it back to Deep Space Nine...
6. Why the fuck did Mr. Future Dude need Enterprise to stop the Xindi? Why not send a fleet of cell ships and blow them to hell?
Perhaps he wants to test Archer? Let's first wait till we see what happens in the next episode.

At least we know from this episode that Earth has other warships to defend it.

Sigh...If only you were wrong, but I fear you are correct. They were cute looking warships at that too.

I think they meant Photon torpedoes. I tend to blame things like this on the writers.

Well in the same way that phase cannons aren't phasers, photonic torpedoes aren't photon torpedoes.

The extra -ic makes it different.

Prehaps they mearly just changed the names later because they are either easier to say, which means that these people are lazy, or they started to use the slag terms more.
