Thats not the full story...
Scifi was having problems PAYING for Farscape, and had an established out clause in the renewal contract they signed for two more seasons. They were always happy with the ratings (best thing they got) but the FROGS that own USA Networks 1) are cheap bastards and 2) just didnt get the show. So they held onto their out until it was time for the Farscape team to begin production of a new season and nailed them.
All the crap that Scifi is putting out about Farscape growing beyond a "Core" audience is complete bunk. What they really mean is well this show is pricey and we have 88 eps in the can already. With a loyal audience of dedicated fans slavishly watching we can rerun those 88 till we run out of electrons!
They do not care about finishing the story, which isnt suprising. But considering Farscape is the only real "Loyal" audience that Scifi has ( apart from people tuning in for event "Dune" "Taken" ect. shows and films ) they have really found a way to piss 100% of them off completely.
Check out www.farscapeworld.com to find out what you can do to help save the show. As fellow Science Fiction fans it would be nice if you could at least drop in and sign an online petition.

I always liked Farscape. It had better characters and a good plot, unlike other sci-fi shows. cough voyager cough

Maybe they will drop Enterprise if they pick the show up.Tsyroc wrote: I read a rumor today that UPN might be interested in picking up Farscape for the 2003/2004 season. No details though.

Farscape is closest to the old BBC Scifi series Blake's 7. The characters are always in flux, changing and growing. Seemingly small elements of on weeks story can also have profound implications several shows later.
Farscape has the guts to...
1) ...Have characters quarrle and fight amongst each other, shifting loyalties, lying decieving and manipulating each other.
2) ...Make the bad guys familiar characters but doesnt ever let you belive they have become "Good". When ever they are around you are always waiting for them to drop the " other shoe".
3) ...Not reliy on technological plot solutions. You will also never hear any "technobabble" or cool quantum theory of the week.
4) ...Make all the characters mortal. Both Zhan and Crais 2 of the more popular (Good Guy and Bad Guy-turned Good Guy-Turned Bad Guy-Turned...) characters have both met pointless and tragic deaths repectively.
5) ...Make Aliens truly Alien! Hensons creature workshop has on several occasions come up with some very belivable aliens. Not just the "Funky Forehead of the week" either. Some of the more convincing aliens require several operators or dancers in stilt-rigs, as opposed to cheap CGI or $1.50 of forhead latex.
6) ...Write storys that do not have obvious "Morals" to them that can be easily packaged and rammed down our throat!
Farscape is just dang good Scifi! Its the boldest experiment in Scifi since Star Wars!

Oops almost forgot this...
It has come to light that Scifi cancelled Farscape (Its Orginal Series ancoring its Friday night line up ) in order to save funding for more seasons of SG-1. There has also been talk about trying to lure Richard Dean Anderson back to SG-1 if the new seasons go forward.
Check out www.farscapeworld.com forums.
I know there may be a ton of SG-1 fans around but, this really pains me. Dropping an orginal series that has built ratings that Scifi has in order to pick up one or two more seasons of derivitive movie spawned dreck!
Again if you are a SG-1 fan, then please consider my position before you flame me for not liking senior McGuiver and Co.
If you are a fan of Farscape and want to see it continue then please consider doing the following:

You might want to say that lounder. From what I was reading today Farscape was cancelled so late in season 4's production schedule that they didn't have time to rework the end so it wasn't a cliffhanger.
Of course, when they did the first season and left things hanging they didn't expect to be doing season two either.
