I'm just back from the Marilyn Manson gig at the Braehead arena....and it was fucking excellent....with the minor exception of the gang of christians outside shouting abuse and the like at the crowd. One poor kid has his arm broken by security because he was standing near the christians.....

I'd just like to thank everyone that's ever posted some of the contradictory shit from the bible....it proved most useful in talking thier resident preacher into the ground.

And I'd like to add again....the gig was fucking excellent.

Dude, i'm all for pissing off christians, but Manson is nothing more than an opportunist. He doesn't give a shit one way or the other. He milks controversy for money, plain and simple. Oh how i long for the days of Black Sabbath........<sigh>

I'm not praising him for the pissing of christians thing....the gig was good and the christians outside were fucking assholes....thanks to them some poor kid has a broken arm now.....they marched traight through the middle of the crowd waiting to get in....

I've gained a whole hell of lot more respect for Manson in recent years compared to when he came out with his first album. I used to think he was just an Alice Cooper wannabe, but he really is entertaining as hell.

And why christians think they're on some crusade against the ultimate evil is beyond me. They are bands out there that really do worship the devil, you'd think that would set them off more. Not enough media attention, I suppose.

The reason why they fear and hate Manson so fucking much is that he's sincere with what he says. He knows what's wrong with the hardcore Christians and exploits it. The sad thing is that they don't even fucking realize they're helping him by giving him so much attention. You don't see them infiltrating and protesting Rob Zombie shows, do you? Cradle of Filth? Fucking Slayer?

Thing is that Manson's not a death metal band with repetitive "Kill yourself, worship Satan" lyrics being growled out like someone's trying to vomit out a cheese grater. He's been a chart-topper before (and recently #1 with The Golden Age Of Grotesque) while these guys are pretty much doomed to playing clubs or opening for Pantera or something. He gets nearer to the mainstream music demographic than any other "Satanic" band.
He's fucking been in the heart of their hypocrisy back in Christian school, now he exacted his revenge. Guess that's why his new album isn't very anti-religion as usual. Well that's my take on why he drives them nuts so badly.

Cannibal Corpse, on the other hand, I just don't know what the fuck their problem is.

Actually I'd have to say that MA is probably his best album. Well for me anyway. I'm always in such a nihilistic cold machine drug world mood in which everyone else feels except me who only gets a hint of it.

Manson is about as sincere as Wanda the the writer at the hallmark factory. now don't get me wrong, he pisses of christians (good) and he puts out decent music (good). but that is all. to cast him as some anti christian leader and antagonizer is bullshit. Marilyn Manson is a carefully designed marketing device, and the goth's swallow that bullshit whole.

Actually, a lot of Norwegian Black Metal bands - (I suppose they are among those you call "bands with repetitive "Kill yourself, worship Satan" lyrics being growled out like someone's trying to vomit out a cheese grater") are also sincere about their occultism... why else do you think several members of Emperor have been in jail for burning churches??

Also, for some strange reason, the lower you get into the metal underground, the weirder (and less sane) the musicians get.
