Wild Cards vs Rogues

Post by Crown »

Okay first off, I know that the Rogue's have superior fire power, I know that the Rogues have more kills to their names, but I love the 58th!!! I know that they will get their asses handed to them, but what would happen if they were in equall fighters? Do the 58th stand a chance against Rogues? Do the 58th stand a chance against any other Sci-fi fighter squadrons?

I should say that the purpose of this thread is to also determine whether or not anyone else loved S:AAB as much as me. I mean I would have to say it was the only Sci-fi that in my mind equalled (and in some cases surpassed Star Wars). Am I alone in this?

S:AAB fanatic...

Wes Jason

The end :D

Oh and Wedge or Hobbie might step in if he gets a little shot up before he gets them all

Rouges have gone up aginst 6:1 Odds and nearly won and would have if it where not for two ships getting taken out earily by shear luck(Corran and Asyer)

The Wild Cards are a more "realistic" squadron, but they have taken some severe losses. That and some of the times they are out with less then 8 people. Rogues have superior fighter combat expierence and superior numbers.

I enjoyed S: AaB, but the 58th isn't a dedicated space superiority team. The Rogues work together as a unit (as depicted in the novels) and aren't burdened by the interpersonal drama that inhabits the individuals of the 58th.

Put the two groups on the ground, and it's anyone's game.

If you put em on the ground you then have to factor in sixty diffrent things more to start with the Horn problem of *Uber Jedi kills them all or that of most of Rouge squadren was picked not only for being the best but also for being good on the ground(Remeber how well they did on Courscant and such)

Well, of course there's the Horn Supremacy Clause, but he's not beyond getting his ass kicked. I think Tank and or Vansen could give him a good beating if they're so inclined. But this set up isn't about Rogues versus Wild Cards on the ground.

The way they performed on Coruscant, and to a lesser extent on Thyferra, is not perfectly exemplary of a hard core ground assault unit. Given that the 58th are Marines first and foremost, they could tie up the Rogues with some effort. That is assuming a level playing field which would consist of equal weapons and a general idea of the terrain.

So no Jedi Saber for Corran(Though he's never with-out it?)

Thats what I was refering to being unfair if Corran Force pushs the 58th to thear rears or starts yanking weapons left and right its not gonna be much of a contest

Ah, what does the acronym stand for, and what is the 58th?

Space Above and Beyond - A great show canned after one season due to the fact that network execs actually have sub chimp intellects.

The 58th (The Wild Cards) was the squadron of marines fighting an enemy of Earth (the chigs) on Air, Land, Sea and Space (although not so much with the sea part).

I forgot about the number disparity, that just sucks! If we try and even it up, numbers wise, and in the same fighters, do the 58th stand any chance? C'mon guys throw and desperate man a bone ehh? :(

There will never be a resolution in the evolution vs creationism debate because neither side can conclusively prove that they are right. The creationists can't prove that they're right becuase they're not, and the evolutionists can't prove that they're right because the creationists are too damn stupid to listen.

If both are in Hammerheads the 58th know how to exploit its eccentricities and handling. They win.

If both are using X-wings, then Rogue Squadron win.

Any other cases... Rogue squadron. But true to form the 58th all die spectacularly and take most of Rogue Squadron with them.

Fortunately for the sake of this contest, Corran's Force kinetic abilities are virtually nonexistant.

Oh, and I think the Rogues would win.

First, it depends on which Rogue Squardron we're talking about. If it's the one with Corran, then he doesn't always have the sabre with him. It usually depends on whether or not he needs it. MAS seems to be spotty on the issue.

Exactly the reasons why they'd win in any fighter v. fighter scenario. The Wild Cards never impressed me with their space fighting skills (save Vansen who was the first to get shots off on Chiggy Von Richtofen).
