Canada seizes Ukranian An-124

Ukrainian An-124 “Ruslan” Seized in Canada

A Ukrainian An-124 “Ruslan” that was delivering freight to Italian military personnel in the country has been seized in Canada. Such a decision was adopted as the basis of the announcement by the Quebec TMR energy company which maintains that the Ukrainian government has owed it 62 million dollars.

As the Ukrainian Service of the BBC transmits, the Ukrainian An-124 transport airplane had arrived last week at a Canadian military base in the Province of Newfoundland, having delivered equipment for Italian air force units who are undergoing their annual training.

However, just before returning to Ukraine, an officer of the court handed the crew a Canadian court decree about the seizure of the airplane.

It also is being reported that if the sides do not reach a full decision of this existing problem, then they simply will sell the An-124 in order to pay off the debt. At the present time, any other details of the incident are not being reported.
An An-124 is worth much more than $62 million, I'm sure.

Several hundred million at the least. A nation, which relies on foreign contractors to move its military equipment, really shouldn't be doing this. Next thing you know a planeload of Canadian equipment is going to end up being dumped into the Atlantic. And of course we had the little container ship incident a while back.
