Rage music
Recently (tonight, actually,) some stuff happened at work that made me angry to the point where I was nearly unsafe to drive. Came home and turned on a playlist by Lock Up (fast, brutal, aggressive death metal, some of the most abrasive I've heard) in order to help keep from flying off the hook.
What's your rage-control music?

Yeah, Old Metallica helps a lot, songs like Battery, Don't Tread on Me (Yeah, I know it's not so old), and Whiplash are fast, dirty, and make me focus more on keeping my thoughts on pace with the music than anger.
Sometimes, I listen to some Techno, the shit with really fast beats also helps out a bit...

I listen to oldies!
Really, if I get that mad, it's 'cause I'm in a game (usually CS) and I take out my anger by trying to do better in the game (it's hard to be pissed when your full concentration is spent on avoiding the damn AWPer )

I actually listen to stuff that will help calm me down, so I usually pick some of the more softer, soothing songs that I have.
The acoustic version of "Voices" from Macross Pluss, is one example, which is also my favourite song. "The Bonds of Sea and Fire" from XenoGears is another.
Certain OC ReMixes from Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger/Cross, Mega Man, and Legend of Zelda are some more.
...I think I'll stop now.

Varies. Sometimes, my mood calls for the synth-soaked hyperkinetic B-Movie Metal of Bal-Sagoth's "The Power Cosmic". Other times, I prefer Sodom. (a thrash metal band from Germany who still refuses to aknowledge that thrash metal is a dead genre. Really warms my heart that some people still are living in the 1980s)
And there's always Finntroll - the only band which ever managed to mix polka with metal and get away with it.

Depends on what I'm mad at. If I'm politically mad, I'll pop in System of a Down or NOFX. If I'm socially mad, for some reason Weezer of all bands calms me down. It's a mystery as old as time why. Spiritually mad calls for Bad Religion.

Twisted Sister's We're Not Gonna Take It
It's a good rant and at the same time amusing, mainly because the band is amusing.
I also like Hair of the Dog by Nazareth. The G-N-R version will do in a pinch but Axl has too much fun saying "bitch" when singing the song.

Re: Rage music
Used to do that when I was a teenager and in my twenties. Now I primarily listen to smooth jazz, which calms me.Saurencaerthai wrote:Recently (tonight, actually,) some stuff happened at work that made me angry to the point where I was nearly unsafe to drive. Well...Morbid Angel and Machine Head do it for me. Oh and Dimmu Borgir's Puritania is an excellent song to listen to when annoyed.
The first machine head album is prolly the best to listen to to work out rage, with Davidian, A Nation On Fire, and so on.
Best Morbid Angel song, imo, is "Dawn Of The Angry"...it's just got an addictive sound to it, which makes it satisfying.

Poison ALWAYS puts me in a good mood, as does Shine Box by Picture House.
