...Where the cops stop chasing you if you drive halfway up a bridge...

Where you can jump from a twenty story tall building...

Leap from helicopter even higher than that...

Stand next to an exploding grenade...

Get shot at point blank range by a cop...

And live.

Yet, if you even THINK about going near the water...

GAME OVER

You could hit a wall at high speed, flip the car mulitple times, and itd still be drivable.

You could carry an obscene number of weapon, and they'd all be invisible.

You could duck into a paintshop and be instantly absolved of your crimes.

Converesly, you will never, ever escape the cops unless you go into aforementioned spray shop/get a bribe/etc.

However, even if you do get caught, no matter how many crimes committed, no matter how horrible they were, you'll be let out in a few hours or so anyway.

Everyone would more or less look pretty much identical.

That and police roadblocks which will open up on you with automatic weapons. (GTA1)

Then there are the Army roadblocks, which will have tanks blast you to Hell. (GTA2)

And if not the Law, then there are the various street gangs who will be looking to kill you. And, of course, if you're just an Innocent Bystander, some nut with a rocket launcher/machete/minigun/chainsaw/etc will come along and kill you.

Tanks carry an infinite amount of ammo and, with the turret pointed backwards and constantly firing, can actually achieve flight.

One man could easily push and move a 25-ton Apache, which sports wall piercing rotor blades.

Any car which isn't an expensive luxury/sports car would be way too sluggish.

Or for that matter, most FPS games. (except for the supposedsly realistic ones such as Counter-Strike and and the Soldier Of Fortune series)

The same holds true for all emergency and law enforcement people.

Additionally, just by stealing a cop car, ambulance, or fire truck, you could then go and be a cop, paramedic, or firefighter, academy training be damned!

You could find all sorts of weaponry just lying about in crates or sitting there, and you'd be the only one to pick them up, or even notice their presence.

You could be hurled off of a motor cycle at high speed into the street or a building, and walk away.

Hookers would restore health, and then you could drive over them to take back your money and then some.
