Most Wierd Proported Conspiracy Theory
I am curious what peoples most wierd proported Conspiacy Theories.
One Conspiracy Theory I heard was from a person I used to work with. He told me that he had a friend who went down to look at Mayan temple carving and stated that they were no carved but molded. He made a big deal about it that the scientists are creating some sort of conpiracy and I really don't know how much even if it was true, it would make any practical theory. He was the type who believed the Biminany Road was Atlantis and I thried talking to him about Thera and he would never listen.

I agree but just Thera at least existed as what seems like an intersting society and if "Atlantis" did exist, it is one of the better possibilities.Montcalm wrote:Nobody knows where Atlantis was or even if it did exist.

(edit) The Maya DID mold plaster a great deal, but what the hell was this guy trying to prove?
I watched a documentary that made a more convincing case for Hellice. A city that was destroyed by tsunami not too long before Plato. An event like that happening within recent times could easily be inspirational for a story like Atlantis, and it made more sense than Thera. Which, in and of itself, is a much more sensible idea than a "real" Atlantis. He was the type who believed the Biminany Road was Atlantis and I thried talking to him about Thera and he would never listen.

I once heard that the moon landing was actually an operation to set up a nuke silo on the moon so the US could nuke its enemies without being blamed. After all, can you blame the US if the nukes just fell from space?
I told him he was an idiot. Still, if that did happen it would be cool.

A page on Helike.
A nifty article on Modern Atlantis Myths in general. You might enjoy that site, I recommend it highly for debunking all manner of pseudo-historical quackery.

I've seen some pretty good evidence that Atlantis was in Asia Minor. I believe the connection to Thera has been largely disproved, though Helike looks interesting. Honestly it seems like Plato just constructed it out of several legends floating around in the oral history of the time; or, it was completely true and entirely false at the same time.

I've heard somebody claim that Kate Moss is in fact a Grey Alien. (she sure looks like one, but biologically she's still human. She's definately not a human-alien crossbreed, otherwise she wouldn't have gotten pregnant)Kitsune wrote:I am curious what peoples most wierd proported Conspiacy Theories.

Gary Busey's on I'm With Busey was a weird hodgepog. It began with the Atlantians having giant circuar construction vehicles that created the Pyrmiads at Giza. Then, the Egyptians try to enhance our life force by sending lasers from thde stunnels of the Pyrmaids towards heavrenly bodies. And it backfired because in the Bible we could live for 200 but now just for ninety. And then their is the Illumanti conspiracy.

They're not particularly weird, but they're certainly stupid...
- The Apollo program was a hoax; man has never been to the moon; we just faked it to make the Russians look bad; the money actually funded secret government projects.
- Scientists are engaged in a world-wide conspiracy to promote the false Theory of Evolution. Scientists in all fields participate in this massive ruse because they want to destroy religion.
- Space aliens secretly control the US government (and any number of others).

Cellphone towers are used by the government to beam mind control rays at people to keep them docile so that they don't revolt. But apparently you can defeat the beams by making large salt crystals and wrapping them in tin foil before burying them around the corners of your house.

My favorite is still that scientists of all disciplines tailor their discoveries to support evolution.

There are several Atlantean type towns that have sunk into the sea and have turned into myth all over the world.

The other links are helpful as well. The person who I was discussing with also believed strongly in Edgar Casey stuff including a secret chamber under the Sphinx with the secret of the ages. I told him that they found a chamber under the sphinx and that ti was empty. He then stated that the secrets were written on the wall but I had read that the walls are blank.

Atlantis is off-topic for this thread. That is a silly myth, but it is not a conspiracy theory.
I have to agree that the various "scientific conspiracy theory" claims are the silliest. Arguing that scientists all strictly support the status quo when fame and fortune in science are derived from changing the status quo is simply ridiculous.
