Whatever it costs to buy dflw these days and whatever it costs you to be online (ie longdistance if you're using dial up and such fees apply)

I've always maintained that kill:death ratio is a better measure of playing ability... Killing lots of people is easy; staying alive is harder.

I think it depends on the game. Games with team-based objectives like Day of Defeat require you to be as active as possible, always trying to capture points. Consequently, you die more in comparison to your team. On the server I played on a lot, I had most flag captures for a long while, as well as most suicides (thanks to my "suinade" tactic) and most deaths. I ranked 3rd or so for kills for a while, though I eventually pulled into 1st. My deaths still far outnumbered by kills, though. All in all I was one of the "best" players on any given team, despite my disproportionately high deaths.
