The title says it all. I only know 2 Sci-Fi theme songs, so I won't participate in this.

Andromeda is campy rehashed
ST has one song going for it otherwise is rehases of that

If you have any file sharing programs just set it as Cowboy beboop and leave it on auido only you can find em
Very nice works and each is scripted into every show near, no totaly perfeclty
Don't want to spend the Money watch the First Epsoide and see how Rush is tied into a fight scean and you'll see how Songs can realy work with a show or movie

If you classify the Final Fantasy series in science fiction, I'd say that's some outstanding music.
But, Star Wars music is still the best.

Oh, I absolutely agree. Cowboy Bebop has by far some of the best music I've ever heard. One of my personal favorites is Jupiter Jazz...I think that's the title. It's the one used after Jupiter Jazz part II, the one that the music from the Windtalkers trailer sounds kind of like.Datana wrote:I'll second Mr. Bean's nomination of Cowboy Bebop's music; it's used quite effectively in the series, and nearly all of Yoko Kanno's scores are brilliant. However, most of the music in Bebop leans towards jazz and blues, which may not agree with some people.

Aside from the obvious Star Wars, I love the music for the Back to the Future movies. I'm not sure if it's John Williams, but it's still very nice.

Well, the beginning credits is Tank, and the end is The Real Folk Blues.David wrote:That it was. I like the song they play during the credits. I don't know the title to it though.

More Cowboy Bebop
Well, I'm preferential to a few songs from Cowboy Bebop (since it is the best soundtrack to a SERIES as opposed to a movie):
Endings song, The Real Folk Blues
Falling song, Green Bird (sung in a language created by Yoko Kanno(sp?) no less).
Series end song, Blue.
Plus, they're done by a band called the Seatbelts!
Movies wise, of course it's Imperial March.

Re: More Cowboy Bebop
Another case where a Yoko Kanno-created language shows up is in the Escaflowne movie song Sóra -- both sets of lyrics were written ultimately by someone named Gabriela Robin, and rumor is that its just another pseudonym used by Yoko Kanno herself. I would think that it would be sort of redundant to give two different names for lyrics and composition on the same song, though, so this is unlikely. Those two tend to work closely in nearly all of Kanno's projects, though.GreenZXZ wrote: Falling song, Green Bird (sung in a language created by Yoko Kanno(sp?) no less).
While you all probably know this already, some other series composed by Yoko Kanno are Macross Plus, Vision of Escaflowne, and Turn-A Gundam, should you wish to get a better picture of her style. Most of these tend to more orchestral stuff than in Bebop, but still retains her very distinct style.

Cowboy Beebop definately has some of the best music for new sci-fi, though Farscape has some pretty cool music, too. As for old school sci-fi, I'd say Doctor Who has the best opening theme. I'll have to disagree about the best movie music; for me, it's a tossup between Star Wars and Blade Runner.
