Differences between Transwarp and Coaxial Warp?

Post by paladin »

Does anyone the difference between Transwarp and Coaxial Warp? Also, are they difference from Quantum Slipstream? How would they compare to Hyperdrive?

I think Transwarp gets more channels and slightly better reception than Coaxial Warp... ;)

Which one gives you the best prices for movie channels? I gotta have at least three HBOs.

The difference is that Transwarp acts a lot like a wormhole, where it increases (NOTE: JUST A THEORY) subspatial curvature, which enables a shortening of relative distance and therefore a faster speed. Quantum slipstream technology involves this principle, but Borg transwarp can go to the relative speed of warp 40, whereas Quantum slipstream is only about half as fast. As the transwarp gets faster, not only does the ship travel the conduit faster, but the subspatial curvature also increases, letting the vessel reach its' target particularly quickly. However, the usage of ALL transwarp coils is necessary to achieve the maximum. A single coil can only take you so far and so fast.

However, Co - axial warp drive can fold subspace and normal space around you, so it's sort of like a 'pull on a rope' thing. If a rope is fastened to where you want to go, you just pull on it and it will hoist you up. So fold space around you to the point of your destination and you will be hoisted automatically towards it. Therefore, co - axial warp is much faster than both quantum slipstream drive AND Borg transwarp. But compared to these 3, warp speed is like a tortoises' pace, and impulse is about as fast as the time it takes a snail to crawl around the Earth.

Yes, the coaxial warp drive is taken from an actual theory. This theory was dismissed because it would take all the energy in the universe to work it.

A real theory not some techno-babble ST theory?

Yeah. If a ship has this special doo-hickey, it would theoretically shrink space in front of it, and expand space behind it. Like i said, the gas milage isnt very good for this.
