Delaware Bar Competition and SD.net meet

Post by Phil Skayhan »

So I've been "volunteered" to compete in the TGI Friday's bar competition here in Newark, Delaware on Oct 16th, and since I know there have been some efforts at trying to arrange a DelMarVa/Philly get-together, I figured that this would be as good a time as any to try and have one.

I realize that this is rather short notice, but it will be a good time (can you say "gaggle of inebriated college girls"?) and give us in the area a chance to meet face to face in a festive social setting. At the very least you would get to see me make an ass of myself.

So far, I believe Greg is going to be able to make it though he may have to leave a little early. My house is less than a mile from the bar in case someone needs to crash on the sofa for the night.

If you can fashion me a false ID on short notice, I'd be happy to join you.

Hemlock, don't worry about an ID. You'll be able to get in but you won't be able to drink. I won't be drinking either so that shouldn't be a big deal. If RedImp can come maybe you can drive down together. He's up in your area on the NJ side IIRC.

Shep. You have now been officially mentioned. See if you can bring Zaia along. Wilkens mentioned being "owed something?" from her.

Feel free to find out if anyone else in the area would like to try to make it.

Er, I don't think the bar would let me in to begin with, and unless I escape in the middle of the night there's no reasonable way I would be able to go.

Shit.

I live in Philly and that week is fall break.

But I think I'm too much of a newbie to invite myself.

If it's a success, maybe we can do something similiar in, say, a year?

They'll let you in. After all, we're going to have a convicted felon of a violent crime, and a Marine back from a war in the bar....they aren't going to argue with us

Where are you at because either myself or Shep might be able to pick you up.

Anyway I'm definately on and will be capable of providing transport TO the location for 2-3 people if need be. However I'll be leaving out by 8:30-9:30 time frame as I have to work early the next morning. In other words I can garuntee a ride there but not neccessarily a ride back (unless you want to come back a little early).

I'm about ten miles west of Philadelphia. But a big question is what time are you expecting to leave to go down there? Coming back early is fine.

Hmmm, well that might be tough. I'll be coming from the south side so you're probably an extra half hour north then back south. Its doable but I'm nto sure yet. Anyway I'm gonna talk to Phil about timing probably later this week.

Well don't worry about not being able to get me; I really don't know how feasible it is for me to go period. School consumes a great deal of time and I have some sporadic after school activities I can't really blow off.

Well, I'm all for drinking, and Newark isn't that far away. What time is this party happening--the 16th is a Thursday and I might have to be up early for work on Friday?

Is this the TGI Friday on 896 across from the Bob? I wouldn't mind stopping in after work if things are still going on. (After work being 22:00.)

Errr, the 16th? That's a Thursday. Not even remotely possible. Sorry, dude.

Well you suck Zaia. I have to work the next day at 5am and I'm still coming out to support my dawg.

Yep that's the one. Things should still be going on at that point though I should be long done and hanging out with whomever shows up. Do you live in the area?

Zaia, Ghost, and RedImp: No problem. I understood that having this during the week and on such short notice that this wouldn't be easy for some.

1. I will be work a total of 14 hours that day.
2. In addition to the hours I'll be working, I'll be on the road a total of 2 1/2 hours.
3. That Friday, the next day, I'm scheduled to work another 14 hour day, in addition to working both Saturday and Sunday too.
4. Newark, Delaware is approximately 1 1/2 hours from where I live.
5. Tonight, I received the line, "Well, there's really no good way to tell you this, and I wanted you to hear it from me first, but...I started seeing someone." I haven't really been in a partying kind of mood since.

Have a good time, though.

to do is pick what we're taking...is it the Stryker or the King Tiger...choices
choices....

Oh yeah, and I need a address for both destinations.
