But, there's no net access when you're serving so I haven't been able to make my daily visit here, and I miss the gang and all the fun stuff that goes on here.
OK, on to the less spammish portion of this post, or first thing last: Russian weddings are fun!! We hosted one last Saturday, and these folks know how to party. If I ever get married, I hope it's a Russian girl!
First, there was no bar. They wanted a shot glass at every place setting and bottles of vodka (Absolut) and cognac (VSOP) at every table, to be replaced when empty, and there was a lot of empties. One table drank from 6:30 pm to 1:00 am, and they went through about 10 bottles all by themselves.
Second, instead of a traditional 4 or 5 course meal being served, they brought in tons of traditional Russian food to be set at each table. Lots of cured meats and fish, and several spread type dishes that I have no idea what were, but it all smelled delicious. A giant family style buffet at every table.
There was a lot of interesting things about the reception too. When the crowd chanted "vodka" (or so I think; my russian consists of Da, and that's it) the bride and groom had to stand up and kiss like teenagers. Big fun.
And they danced their silly fool faces off.
All in all, big fun. Makes we wish I was a little bit Russian
