There is nothing in media sci-fi that hasn't been done in book SF years if not decades earlier--and genreally better, too. Bozo and Binhead are no more and no less ripoff artists than every other scifi TV producer out there.

DS9. JMS alleged and has always maintained that the orginal treatment of B5 was used as a guide in creating and making DS9. He had submitted it to Paramount while looking for a distributor/financer. DS9's set up almost perfectly matches the setup for that early incarnation of B5.

The whole lost in space idea that was central to Voyager was stolen from "Lost in Space." The breen look like leia from the early scenes of ROTJ, and I'm sure there is plenty more.

I always wonder why ST was so repetitive.... now I know.

What year did B&B took over Star Trek?

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

Not that Gene was above repeating things. At least his most obvious instance he repeated himself (Star Trek: The Motion Picture)

Much of the franchise was already in Berman's hands before Roddenberry died and I believe that Braga came involved in production a bit later than that.

Either they stole it, or they did it as a tribute to other sci-fi. I think there are other instances, probably more prevalent in Voyager or Enterprise.
