EU - How Far Can it Go?

Post by Sharp-kun »

Now that the NJO is finished, many years after RoTJ, should the EU go further chronologicly? Is it just me thats beginning to think that we're getting a bit too far away from classic Star Wars (ie the Empire vs the Rebellion)?

Its basically dead. Empire vs. Rebellion has been sucked dry and beaten to death, and quite frankly was kind of boring by the time it finally ended.

Troy Denning is making a post-NJO trilogy though.

4000 years plus in the case of the Tales of the Jedi comics or what ever they were called. (The ones with Ulric Quel-droma and Exar Kun)

They haven't gone all the way through the 4000 years though.

They can keep going, but they'd have to focus on the Jedi and Light vs Darkside of the Force/Good vs Evil, and drop the moral ambigiouity.

Also, that SW civ is 25,000 years old, there's lots of room for good, 'local' (i.e one planet, even one city) stories

Nah. A few books after the NJO to wind it down, but no more. The prequel era is where it should be at now. Just as long as we don't get another dumbass series of kiddie books about Ben Skywalker.

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

The EU becomes less relevant as the timeframe moves farther away from the movies. Remember that the accuracy of EU material is treated like that of written history, which means it's sketchier as we move farther away from the "present" (meaning the era of the movies) in the timeline.
