RIAA vs. 19th Century Cattle Barons

Post by The Yosemite Bear »

Following the Civil War the Cattle Baron's reaped enoumous profits taking advantage of the wide open ranges, and public doman property's for their herds of cattle. Over production, and poor quality control, & disease, resulted in a sudden down turn in profits. The Cattle Barons concluded that their finaincial losses could only be the results of Homestead Farmers rustling their cattle. To this ends they got special laws written, formed powerful monoploies, and hired out law enforcement as well as criminals to perform acts of intimidation and even murder for them.

does this sound familiar?

Me: Nope, that's why I have you around to tell me.
Nitram: You -are- beautiful. Anyone tries to tell you otherwise kill them.

The result of this was the creation of Gangs such as that of the infamous Billy the Kid, IIRC.

So there is an upside afterall.

very disturbing similarities. we already have the RIAA dressing up as police officers, so they're doing almost the exact same thing as the cattle barons had done it seems. well, minus the murder so far.

What do you think would have happened if they had let Death Row Records rather then Metallica be their pitbulls against Napster?

You realize this is the result of Too much history channel, and the fact that one of my ancestors was one of the hired guns of the RIAA's moral predicessors....
