I contributed to the war effort in Iraq...sorta.

Post by TrailerParkJawa »

Two days ago I got an email from a customer who said he believe one of this disk drives had failed. After trading a few emails I find out he is in Iraq.
Well, we cant send anything to Iraq because we dont have an export license, even if technically a military camp is US soil. No way the company is going to risk it.

So I worked out a deal where we will send his replacement to Germany, then someone at his parent unit will foward it to Iraq. I also had to bend the regs to get him an replacement cause he could not call us. It was all done via email.

Hehe, so in a small way I helped the US Army keeps some of is computer equipment up and running. :)

Hehe. Thanks guys. I dont care if I oppose the whole Iraq thing, I still feel a sense to help this guy.

He is a customer.
He is an American.
He is a member of the military.

And he needs my help. So thats what I do. 30 years from now when my grandkids ask what did I do in the Great War on Terror. I can tell them I fixed a hard drive. They will go....ah grandpa....we learned about those in history class. :P
