The AIDS crisis has been one of the biggest factors in the celibacy movement in the US.

I don't make it a point to know what Christian organisations are doing, Mike. To do so, I would have to actively look into it. Since I don't care, I know absolutely nothing about such efforts.

Spanky, you really haven't noticed how the conservatism over sex in the country has increased in the past 15 years? In the 60's, 70's, and much of the 80's, you could get laid by complimenting a chick's hooters. People waiting for marriage to have sex were unheard of. Today that has all changed.

When I read the book, I interpreted that the Party's goal of thought control was the most importent matter. Compared to it, all the Big Brother stuff was trivial.

Then again, there's the matter that all that stuff was part of reaching the goal of thought control. So you could interpret that the whole purpose of the book was about how the Party was still several decades from true thought control. I mean, they say so in the book itself.
