What is the point of having a Special Addition for the OT

It just doesn't make a lot of sense to me I mean sure all the new techie things GL can do to it are cool and all but why can't he just leave it alone. Alterations and changes like a Padme scene at the end of Jedi or making the stormies all the same hight just seems to be a waste of time and resources that could be better spent making giant space battles for Episode 3 or a kick arse obi-wan anakin lightsaber fight. At least that is how I feel take it as you will.

I agree with that. The OTs been restored once. That's enough.

The Padme rumors appear to be unsubstantiated. It does not appear that she will be in RoTJ.
I think, as long as there are no more surprises like Greedo shooting first and the embarassingly stupid song number in RoTJ, they should feel free to improve the visuals digitally as much as they want. Because I'm not going to kid myself; there are many minor annoyances within the special edition of the OT, but the improvements that GL did make in special effects and such were so good that I could never go back to the original edition (Luke's speeder in ANH, for example).

Greedo did NOT shoot first! Greedo did NOT shoot first! Greedo did NOT shoot first! Greedo did NOT shoot first! Greedo did NOT shoot first! Greedo did NOT shoot first! Greedo did NOT shoot first! Greedo did NOT shoot first! Greedo did NOT shoot first! Greedo did NOT shoot first! Greedo did NOT shoot first! Greedo did NOT shoot first!
...
OK, I just had to get that out of my system.

About that Greedo thing.. what the hell were they thinking?
Did they want to make Han like like a goddamn saint or what?

i really don't have a clue about that greedo thing maybe GL wanted Han to look more bad ass or something

and as far as altering the film little things like luke's speeder are cool as far as im concered i just worry that they would screw around with the movies to the extent that WE even don't know what the hell were're watching

I think that the entire idea of Han wasting Greedo first was really cool.

Yeah, it showed he was someone you don't fuck with. A hard bitten tough not some damn saint.

I heard GL did it to make the story more PC, as a hero can't be a cold blooded killer, I think it was the same story with the "Death Sticks" in AOTC, maybe now there will be a scene where Han shows his remorse over killing Greedo.
Only fix the effect problems, simple as that.

GREEDO DID NOT SHOOT FIRST!!!
There is no way that puny little FIRST DAY bounty hunter shot first. Yeah, the OT has already been ruined once. Don't ruin it again.

Very many HARD TO NOTICE special-fx improvements were made in all three of the films for the SE version; not just the obvious ones like the CG improvements at Yavin, Bespin, end of ROTJ etc.
Case in point Luke's speeder, and the Battle of Hoth (there's docos on the tapes, watch em)
The Padme in ROTJ rumor is complete rubbish- it was debunked on SW.com by Mcallum.
As for stormtroopers being the same height- most of the evidence- including an explicit quote from GL, shows that he always intended Stormtroopers to be clones. As such- changing their height is EXACTLY the kind of mod that would be made. LOTR could do it with the hobbits- GL can outclass them anyday
Oh and the battle of endor better be super modded.

Ah, ah, don't be so quick to judge. As a writer, constantly looking back over my own work and finding myself exclaiming, "What was I thinking?!?", I completely understand Lucas's desire to "fine-tune" things. Is it just a ploy to milk more money out of us, the poor, unwitting Star Wars fans? Well, yes. But we should be glad that we get a chance to see something new thrown into the works.
I'm hopin' Lucas throws in some more deleted scenes. Heck, I'd even like to see some brand-spankin' new scenes (ones not crucial to the plot, of course... like more aliens in the cantina scene).

I"d just like to point out that, Greedo did NOT shoot first.

Lucas owns SW with both a copyright and the moral rights. We STRONGLY disagree with the Greedo situation, but the fact of the mater is that Greedo fired first.
Now if Lucas fixes this in the next update, we can all be happy again.

Un-delete the scene where vader and Tarking are talking about the fact the alderran had defences, its in the novel...
Add an Acclamator-II landing AT-ATs at Hoth
Put in a Vengance class cruiser in RotJ (I want that ship to be cannon!)

Do moral rights cover something so obviously tacked on and revised?
I say no. Greedo did NOT fire first. No no no no no!

So in other words, the creator does NOT have the final say as to what really happened?

Lucas owns SW in totality, anything he says, or revises is FACT and must be accepted as such.

My view is when it's so badly done, no.

Clearly Evil_Jerk does was not speaking for everyone when he said that, and merely for himself, but the chances that Greedo fired first are exceptionally small. How could he have missed? Why would he fire, then? These questions need to be answered, or we can be led to the conclusion that the SE films were tampered with, while the majority of them are highly accurate.
