About Geocities and the .txt trick

As many of you have noticed images hosted on Geocities aren't working. I have done some experimentation here and on two other boards and it seems to be a problem with the board itself. The .txt trick still works on those two. The error only occurs here when you try to post a picture using the [img] tag. [img=left] and [img=right] will still work.

I'll do that in the desktop thread, as I don't want to move all my pictures from Geoshitties to Photobucket at the moment.

As of phpBB 2.0.8, the board software will not longer accept anything but files with GIF, PNG, JPG and JPEG extensions in the IMG tag for security reasons.

Furthermore, for those of you running Windows XP, SP2 will change IE's behavior so that said trick will no longer work (also for security reasons).

I think it would be a good idea if no one used Geo$HITTies at all then.

Try to find and use your ISP's webspace options.
