We just sailed past 1 million posts

Post by Durandal »

Sort of. A post with index 1000000 was entered into the database at 7:15pm Eastern Standard Time yesterday. The counter on the front page doesn't count hidden and/or private user groups.

Good for us, now I'm sure this thread will quickly and with a minimal of content nonsense help boost the public post count total past one million as well.

Hurrah for SD.net!

With a strong anti-spam policy like ours, that's quite the acheivement.

Well, good for him.

So, who's up for guessing when post 2 million will occur? I say sometime in April 2005.

If it don't register on the front page, then it doesn't call for a celebration. :P

Quite. s'what I was thinking.

It's not a proper party unless we can all see the 0s.

Not strong enough. There are plenty of members with high post counts who've contributed nothing. If I had my way, we'd be something like 20,000 short still.

compared to alot of other boards, SD.Net's anti-spam policy is among the stronger ones. i haven't seen too many that were as controlled.

The anti-spam policy is part of why this is such a good board. Too often a BBS becomes a chat room, which is nice for the established members but drives off new blood. There's no place on such boards for members who like to lurk and occasionally post something of great value--Kuroneko comes to mind as an example of that type represented here. And it's virtually impossible to keep an interesting in-depth discussion going--it will eventually devolve into chitchat. Eventually, the kinds of members who enjoy in-depth discussions are all gone and it's impossible to get one started.

Maybe you should get something to reflect it as your CT: Million Dollar Man or something. :)

That's the second time today I've seen you insinuate that there are people on this board you'd like to ban or have banned already, if you had the chance (the other being the "Ban Lord Jax" poll thread).

...

Does that include...me?
