Now, this is pretty extensive, particularly on any small community like mods. However, noone ever thinks about why these things happen. For instance, UT was nicknamed 'rocket tag'. Thats what it was. Noone has a problem with that. However, in Specialists, using rifles(assault rifles) is being a 'sniper whore', in AvP2 using the smart is being a smart n00b. People complain that weapons are effective.
Similar with bunnyhopping; the game lets you jump without penalty, jumping makes it harder to hit you. So people jump. Its not their fault the game makes it an effective tactic. Sure, its incredibly lame and frustrating, but if you leave aside real tactic movement, it makes sense in-game because thats the way its set up.
I'm playing UT2k4 atm, and I've seen alot of people complaining about shock rifles. Shock rifles have instant hit, high accuracy fire. And, appartently, using it as an unscoped sniper weapon is bad, and makes me a 'n00b'. :rolls: Games I could single out for this include CS, BF, etc. The common denominator is that the games inherently contain and support these tactics, so you can't complain to players for using it.
When *I* complain about a kill, its because I'm frustrated. I know I died because I did something wrong, or wasn't paying attention. The net is, apparently, full of bad losers. I haven't played many MP FPSs... so everyone, share your favourite 14yo whinge. And remember, like I saw in someones sig, 'In UT, five headshots is a 'Killing Spree', in Quake it is 'Excellent', in CS its 'kicked by console'
