Broke down and got City of Heroes

Post by Arthur_Tuxedo »

Long ago I swore never to play another MMORPG, but damn does this one sound so good!

Anyway, anyone else on the board playing? If so, what server and character name(s)?

A MMORPG who's draw is fast simple action with no lag? where do I take the exit...

Simple action, no real RPing, instead of lag they dump us with copies of populer area's, so you have no idea if your in your friends area, or on a differant copy.

I'll skip and wait for something better then the current generation, maybe EQ2.

I bought the game as well... not to mention the draw of the soon to be released(Fall 2004) City of Villians which has its own set or rules and from earily acounts Super villianly is more MMORTS than RPG(In the Civ vien rather than say C&C)

I'm on Liberty with Blackadder and the odd one or two(Mr Bean having already been stolen from me, I promise to hunt that person down!)

I'm on Victory as well, trying to decide between PowerSuit (Electric/Ice Blaster), Power Claw (Darkness/Reflex Scrapper), and Velhilda (Invul/Energy Tanker, and bonus points to anyone who gets that reference :) ). I didn't think I'd ever get hooked on one again, but I'm as addicted to this as I was to EQ early on :)

I think I'll wait for the City of Villians add-on, right now there's far too little to do until that comes out. Can't do the same missions over and over for months, get old. But out of all the new MMORPGS its engine and gameplay rock, refreshing change also from hack and slash.

I am also frustated by lag. Recently I tried Freelancer and loved the game. But when I tried it in multiplayer I was constanly bogged down by lag. Lag totaly destroys fun in any game.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

Leo and Taurus are already taken names. Why don't we all start an SDN supergroup on an agreed upon server? That would be rad.

So? The fact that some developer is making the game does not make it god.

Also, while the game may be good, its not what i'm looking for in a MMORPG.

I'm waiting until City of Villains...and until i get a better computer than this peice of shit here.

I only hope they let you be a mad genius, like The Fixer or the Mad Thinker, so i can take pleasure in outsmarting goody-goody superheroes with giant robots and superscience.

Sure. Let's pick a server now. I nominate AT for the leader. I'll remain chardok or a clever respelling

Right. WoW's quality may very well be through the roof. But all the things most MMO games have that CoH omits are things I don't like (crafting, houses, what passes for roleplaying), and how are you supposed to care about some stupid elf wizard or something anyway? Now a superhero, well that's just awesome. That's every boy's dream.

Okay, but I'll have to warn you about me. I'm the personality type who's real interested in things for a while, then totally loses interest for long periods of time, then suddenly is real interested again. So I'll start the group and make a simple website, but we have to have a backup leader for when something else grabs my attention.

Also, you have to be level 10 to start a supergroup. So that means it's time for me to start powerleveling like a madman :)

As for the server, one of the less populated ones I think, but not the least populated would be ideal. The rational is that less populated means less lag (not that there's very much lag in CoH anyway) and more plentiful mobs, but when they introduce CoV and all it's PvP and group vs. group goodness, we don't want to be in a ghost town server.

I know Justice and Victory are the most populated, but I can't remember which one is 3rd. We should consider that one.

Okay I'm lvl 9 on Liberty right now, so tomorrow I'll be able to make the group. But first we have to brainstorm on a name, and the titles of myself, the officers, and the recruits respectively.

A couple ideas to start out:

Disciples of Wong (my personal fave)
Solar Destroyers
Imperial Special Forces
Crack Smoking Donkey Fuckers
Knights of Logic
The Sith Legion
The Jedi Order
Heroes United Against Fundies

The Jedi order smacks of to much SW for a superhero game unless you plan to be Darth Vadar457 :D

My vote goes to displines of wong

OK, the group has been made. So now people just have to join it.

Any level can join.

EDIT: The procedure for joining is just for me to add you, simple as that. My character's name is Arthur Tuxedo, spelled like that. So if I'm on just send me a tell.

I just happen to have all of my characters on Liberty - I'll keep my eyes peeled and what-not.
