What is it with Futurama?

Post by Tolya »

Did they stop making new episodes? Cancelled the show?
I must explain myself - where I live Futurama wasnn't shown on TV, got all the episodes on CD's and everything ends on the 5th season?

Cancelled 4 years ago when I didn't even knew such thing existed?

Cancelled at the end of the fourth season, I think, due to a mix of low ratings and high costs.

They stuck it in the 7pm Sunday "Death Slot" because the Fox execs hated it (same thing that happened to Family Guy) and then they stopped advertising altogether for it. Given that situation, it is easy to see why it would have low ratings. On Adult Swim however, its ratings have been stellar, along with the other cancelled Fox animated sit-com Family Guy.

It's about $1-$1.5 million an epsiode to make, depending on a few factors. Not high for a primtime show, but more expensive then a cable network like Cartoon Network could afford (they expressed interest in starting it back up).

The problem is that FOX fucked them over by horrible scheduling. They put Futurama in a time slot that was guaranteed to be pre-empted by football much of the year and didn't really push the series. It would have done better if they had put it on an hour later. Unfortunately, they had worse shows that they liked better for those slots. It's a shame, Futurama, like Family Guy, is doing excellently on Cartoon Network, because they put it in a time slot that people will tune in to see.

HEATHEN!!!

If the Fox execs didn't like Futurama, that must mean they're ready to soak The Simpsons with Agent Orange

How could they be so cold and stupid?

The Simpson's still running strong, right?

They're.... still running. There's been a few good episodes, but it's not nearly as fresh and witty as it used to be.

Actually, it's even worse than that.
Fox consistently pre-empted Futurama, so that any potential regular viewers would only find their show on half the time. They went out of their way to kill the show, and it still had better ratings than half the crap Fox airs anyway!

Now, if they would just treat King of the Hill this way, i'd be happy.

Futurama is my 2nd favorite animated show, right behind Cowboy Bebop. Then Family guy, then the Simpsons.

I hate Fox for their deliberately killing Futurama and FG tho. They deserve their Fundy Hell!

So why the heck are the FOX guys so stupid? Don't they just want the money? Are they stupid enough to have some alterior motive or morality issues as to not show Futurama and earn money? Bah, they suck!

I completely blame the American viewing public, which is willing to put up with all the crap and above all view fox's assembly line shit reality TV shows in such numbers that they can't avoid turning a profit.

Reality tv shows are cheap to produce and do get ratings. Ergo they most likely get more bang for their buck than other types of shows. So we end up seeing a lot of them as opposed to stuff like Futurama.

That and their incompetent which is why you see such fuckups in scheduling when good shows are on.

I miss titus. I miss Futurama. And i remember back when it was on. Every time i'd be ready to watch foot ball would go be in over time for like 20 minutes. They did the same thing to alot of good shows. Fuck nuts need to be shot. They keep churning out shit and leave the good stuff to rot in the death slot.
